Fastest way to share large files between PCs?

With my network max rate at 3.4 mb/s, it's not really feasible to transfer 10+ gigabyte files onto another pc that way. I bought a usb 2.0 32 gb flash drive today and that is getting a weak 5.1 mb/s . Am I missing something? Are there any faster ways to do this?

I have no idea. I set the folders I want into homegroup, and when I try and copy the file from one PC to the other, I get the same transfer speed as I get if I download something from the internet.

Also, what kind of speed should I get over the network?
