Admittedly, i got an ancient display (SyncMaster T240M) that has miracously survived through around 8 years of use. Problem is, i noticed it's been recently showing up an ugly red tint over anything it displays, and it only goes away if i press my hand forcefully against it. I don't really understand anything about displays, could this be fixed or am i better off buying a new monitor?

I had this happen just today.,

Come home from vacation, turn on a secondary monitor, used just for some of the house security cameras...anything "black" is now red.
But this is a near 20 year old Planar, 21" 4:3. Bought used govt surplus in 2007.

Its had a good run.

Mine is absolutely the monitor.
With NO cable connected, all red.
