I recently build my first PC for casual gaming, but I think i may have gotten a faulty GPU because I get this weird horizontal lines and my computer freezes. At first I thought it was a LoL issue (I was playing LoL the first 2 time I got the weird horizontal lines) but today I was playing team fortress 2 when I got the same problem, that's when I started to think it was the GPU. I don't think it's an overheating problem because the GPU doesn't get that hot (around 55 C).

Here's the parts I used for the PC

CPU: AMD FX-6300
PSU: Corsair CX series 750M
GPU: Saphire NITRO R9 380 4Gb
MOBO: ASUS M5A97 LE R2
RAM: Crucial Ballistix sport 8GB kit

I would post a picture of the horizontal lines but I can't figure out how to upload it here.

Hey Alejandro, that sounds like a defective GPU for sure. Mine did the same thing with the horizontal lines across the monitor. Are the lines green or white? Do you by chance have another GPU you can test to make sure? 55c is just fine for a GPU temp under load.

The lines apparently change color depending on what you're doing when it crashes (I've gotten red, green and white lines). Unfortunately since this is my first PC I don't have any GPU's lying around to test them and I don't know anyone who has one. Looks like I'll have to RMA it, which is a shame because I won't be able to play during the holidays.

Yeah, good idea. I'm pretty sure its a faulty GPU. Make sure to post back when you get your new one.
