Hey,
Bit of a beginner here,

I want to build a gaming pc for fortnight, Rust, Minecraft etc. I'll continue to do streaming on Twitch. Im a Graphic Artist by trade so Photoshop, Illustrator kinda stuff will be used maybe Indesign and Dreamweaver on this setup as well.

I was intending to use a decent 3.0GHz or more i5 but all the CPU I see available are FCLGA1151 sockets. Picking a board for this socket seem to be more difficult then i thought. Am i doing something wrong or can someone suggest a suitable CPU?

The i5 8400 turbo's to 4.0ghz, it's base clock is 2.8ghz which is not really relevant. As long as temps allow that CPU will boost to 4.0ghz whenever it is under load. It would outperform or match an i5 7600 in almost any task including gaming, it only has 100mhz over the 8400.

Cheering, so far:

CPU: i5-8400 2.8GHz
MoBO: Asus TUF H370-PRO (Wi-Fi) (not really intending to overclock so no real need for a z model)
GPU: Still deciding
RAM: G.Skill Triden Z 2400MHz

Cooling will depend on case but thinking one of the following:
Phanteks - PH-TC12DX
Noctua - NH-D9L
Deepcool - GAMMAXX GT
ARCTIC - Freezer 33

Hows that looking?

Yeah that looks good, I would probably go with 2666mhz RAM that board will support it.

As for the cooler I would probably go with the phanteks out of those though they are all pretty decent. The noctua is a rather large dual tower air cooler, you probably don't need something like that for a locked i5 8400. The cryorig H7 is also pretty good, should be around the same price as those.

Why going 4 core CPU when you can have a 8 core high end CPU?

It's a 6 core cpu and it's about 100 dollars cheaper than a ryzen 1700. Apples and oranges.

Update:
CPU: i5-8400 2.8GHz
MoBO: Asus TUF H370-PRO (Wi-Fi)
GPU: Asus GeForce TURBO-GTX1060 6G
RAM: G.Skill Triden Z 2666MHz 2x8GB
CPU COOLER: Noctua NH-D9L (Looks pretty dope and has 100% guarantee to clear ram slots) plus fan speeds will be lower/less noise.
STORAGE: ADATA - Ultimate SU800 128GB 2.5" SSD + Seagate Barracuda 2TB 3.5"
CASE: Phanteks - ECLIPSE P400

& Finally

PSU: Corsair - RM 450W 80+ Gold

Now.... PC Part Picker said this system will draw about 306W, a rough guide mentioned about 100w above so is a 450W about where to aim or aim lower at 400W? Im concerned because ive tried numerous sites and can not find the minimum required watts for the GPU.

How am i looking so far? no obvious bottle necks or issues?
