Trying to finalize the parts list for my first build and am looking for feedback on my selections.

I am trying to build a powerful workstation, mainly to be used for illustration, animation, video/photo editing, 3d sculpting, and audio recording. The only other thing it will really be used for is web surfing, listening to music, and watching videos. Gaming will be of little to no concern.

Overall, I am looking to build a powerful, fast, and reliable machine to maximize efficiency and greatly improve my workflow.

Please let me know if you see any compatibility issues or parts I could/should invest more or less in. Any suggestions or advice you can give is greatly appreciated as I still have a lot to learn and hearing critical feedback is extremely helpful to me. Thanks!

Oh man where to start... First of all this is so much waste of money. That CPU isn't what you want, get Xeon. Also GPU choice is weird, you can get get a better card for cheaper. (GTX 1070) Still would be overkill imo.

Hey, thanks for responding. I was wondering if you could be a bit more detailed in your explanation to help me understand where I went wrong here.

Where exactly I am wasting money? Why isn't that CPU suitable and why choose the Xeon over it? Why is GPU choice weird?

Sorry about all the questions, but like I said I am super new to this and I want to make as few mistakes as I can.

If you have the time, modify the build I made on PC parts picker to what you think would better suit my purposes. If not, any other questions you can answer or info you can provide is greatly appreciated :) thanks

Does this build make more sense?
