[SOLVED] Fifine brand microphone not compatible with HP Omen desktop PC ?

I have an HP Omen 870-224 desktop PC with:
Intel i5-7400
16GB RAM (upgraded from 8GB)
Nvidia 1060 3GB (HP only from what I'm finding).

The problem comes when I plug my Fifine brand microphone (a plug and play USB microphone.) The USB mic bricks Windows and messes up the USB lanes alongside the one the mic is on. It even kicked Windows into recovery mode.

The same Fifine mic works on an HP Stream laptop that I have on hand, so the mic isn't the issue.

Would a new motherboard (not an HP replacement) fix this issue? And if so, what motherboard would you recommend? (matx with LGA1151 socket to fit an i5-7400)

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Before you go ahead and throw money at a problem, it's best you go ahead with troubleshooting the issue. Might it be possible to mention what your BIOS version is at the time of writing? As for your OS, if you're on Windows 10, what version(not edition) are you working with? Pertaining to your ram, mind explaining how you upgraded the ram to 16GB from 8GB? If it's a 2x8GB config, are both sticks of ram identical?

As for the mic in question, did you try plugging it into a donor system's USB port(apart from the HP Stream laptop) and seeing if the issue crops up on that system as well?
