Question File explorer crashes when attempting to move files ?

I recently did a complete new build but left in my old perifial drives (new NVME C drive) Now every time I try and move files anywhere, file explorer crashes and immediately restarts. The file also does not move. Any ideas?

try copy and paste?

Yeah new OS
Copy/cut and drag and drop have the same outcome.
It doesnt matter if its between disks or to another folder in the same disk, same problem. I can still install programs however.

I can think of ether of two problems (not saying it can't be something else)

• Faulty RAM - use Memtest to check if ram is good.
• You somehow managed to install a non-working driver.

Is there any other issues with the computer?

Just did a scan, no errors there.
Not sure how to test for that, I update the drivers frequently.
No other issues unfortunately/fortunately

Try to disconnect all storage devices exept the one windows are installed on.

Was the nvme only drive in pc when you installed? Win 10 may have shared itself onto other drives if they were all attached when you installed.

Unplugged all the other drives, wasn't that unfortunately. I can try a reinstall of win 10 but its going to take a while to back up my files when I cant put them on a disk or usb. I can't recall how I installed Win 10, or if it was with all drives attached.

Use the CLI "cmd" in admin mode, and run sfc /scannow or this to see if this solves your problem

What files are you trying to move?
Are any of those video files? Corrupted video files may cause explorer to freeze and crash.

RyzenNoob -Tried those ideas, sfc /scannow found some corrupt files and repaired them but still did not fix my problem. The link was useful but the scans all came up clear.

SkyNetRising- It doesnt matter what I try and move, files, pictures or videos, exactly the same problem.

Did a full wipe and format of all my secondary drives. And removed them when i did the fresh
Os install. I think what happened is the os installed across multiple drives the first time. Not sure how.
