Anyone had this and/or know of a cure? For some reason now, every time my system locks (i.e. screen-saver comes up and I have to log in), when I log in, the file manager has closed. This is really getting old.....appreciate any help!

set in windows not to log out but only to lock windows
eventually I'm energy settings or login settings

do you need to login? you can just disable the need to login after screensaver or sleep was enabled

No, I want to keep the login requirement...on the off chance my laptop is stolen, I don't want them to have easy access to my files and information

PS: nothing else closes or seems affected, just the file mgr

sounds like file explorer is hitting an exception when you log back in. this would terminate file explorer and put a entry in your log file.

I would try to reset file explorer: from this link:
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...on its own,... 8 8. Create a New User Profile

(basically delete the files in two hidden directories)

7. Reset File Explorer

Resetting File Explorer to its default settings can sometimes fix persistent issues:

• Open Windows Terminal or Command Prompt as an administrator.
• Type del /f /s /q /a "%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\AutomaticDestinations\*" to clear the jumplist history.
• Type del /f /s /q /a "%AppData%\Microsoft\Windows\Recent\CustomDestinations\*" and press Enter.
