Just got a 16TB external SSD drive. I wanted to test it out by copying some files and folders to it. I made a folder "1st Copy" on the SSD and copied close to 900+GB of files and folders which took couple days to finish. Everything seems fine and there were close to 1TB space was used. Then I did it again to a folder "2nd copy". For some reason, the job completed a whole lot faster. Duting the 2nd copy process, I did checked on it and saw some folders were created under "2nd copy" folder. After it finished, I checked on the SSD property and saw close to 2TB space were used. However, when I checked inside the 2nd copy folder, there wasn't anything there. And there wasn't any files or folders inside 1st copy folder also. All those files and folders (close to 2TB) that I copied had disappeared. I changed the property to view all hidden files and folders, nothing. I remount the SSD drive and even reboot the PC, still nothing. I unmounted the SSD and mounted it to my laptop, same. I'm running out of idea on what is going on.

Anyone has any advise on this?

Well, the reason I bought it was because it was quite cheap. Even if it doesn't work, won't be too painful, just a waste of my time. Thanks.
It doesn't work...it can't work.
There is exactly zero usable reliable space on it.

Take it outside, smash it with a hammer, throw the chunks in the trash.
(this is to prevent someone finding it and thinking it is a viable drive)
