Files disappearing in Arc folder

I have a folder that is spelled ARC on my c: drive and as of last week the files in the folder are disappearing. I will restore them from backup and when I come in the next day they will be gone.

The subdirectories will be there with all of their files still in place it is just the root folder ARC that loses it's files.

What gives?

Some more info is that I notice some new folders on my c: drive called ARCH1 and ARCH2 and I did not create them. Is there something new in Windows where they treat folders with the name ARC as archive date?

Also my folder is encrypted.

Any info would be great. For now I am going to rename the folder and see what happens.

ACR and ARCH folders are not part of the normal setup of Windows. What may be happening is that your anti-virus program is guaranteeing the files.
