So my copy of windows 10 recently became corrupted, so I re-installed it onto to my computer with my files still on the computer, and moved the old windows to "windows.old". When I got back into my desktop, all of my stuff was gone, but my hard drive still says that over 400 gb has been taken up. Is it possible to get all my old files back, or is this juts a glitch? Thanks.

If you can keep Windows from writing, writing, writing, if you can boot certain Puppy Linux usb sticks or DVDs, using its file manager; then you might have the best possible chance of un-earthing, un-covering, your data files and copying same onto reliable affordable external media. [As I am going to be in school all this week, others here will have to walk you through this process; I can only be on The 'Net in bits and pieces.]

Well you saved your old files but because you are now on a new user profile you won't see them. You need to manually go into the C: drive, go to your old user profile and copy your files over to the new account. It's like parking your car in your garage, then going out and buying a new car, then wondering where your old stuff is. Back in your old car in the garage.
