Files within game folder randomly deleted?

Hey all,

The strangest thing happened to me today and I can't seem to find any solutions so I decided to open my own thread. I woke up and booted my PC like normal to find that all of the game folders within my hard drive had been deleted . I ran a virus check and everything is normal. I don't have a system restore point for the files so i'm not sure if I could recover them. I also searched through my recycling bin and found a bunch of the deleted files but not all.

Any reason why this happened?

Are they steam games?
