Alright I've made a few builds and asked a few people for some reviews of them and this is what I've come to.. will this be able to play games alright and last me a year or 2 without getting too outdated? Will also be used for school work like Word and alot of Web browsing. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/3BvT7P . If you find a way to save me a little more money let me know!

Don't bother with overclocking. It's not worth it. This is a good deal on a Z97 motherboard though.

get 4690k if your going with z97 so you can overclock later
your PSU is low quality get xfx 550
graphics card well in 1 month amd releasing their new graphics cards i would suggest waiting and also that will cause gtx970 price to drop

Thanks for you reply. I did some basic research and found out that the h97 chipset wasn't able to overclock like the z97 chipset. Is this true? And I agree with you on the case. It's a pretty cheap one and will look for a better one. I noticed that the gpu you chose was 35 dollars more but still the r9 290.. is it worth the extra money? This is sort of a budget build so I price to performance may affect my final decision. Also does corsair not make that good of pcu's?

i pretty much gave you all the answers in my last post.... no h97 cant overclock but so cant 4590 cpu only 4690k can so you would need both 4690k and z97 to be able to overclock and as i said before wait 1 month for new graphics card releases i didnt change gpu in my post tho other guy did. as far as psu corsair cx series are bad PSUs any other higher tiered series they make are just overpriced generally xfx is best budget option.

If you wanted to spend another $40ish, you could get a GTX970.
