Final check on parts for gaming PC

Hae just need some feed back on the parts i am intending to buy for my new gaming pc

CPU: AMD ATHLON64 X2 7750 2.7GHZ SOCKET AM2

Please give some positive feedback
Note: I am in New Zealand so it is not worth buying the i7 or AM3 systems yet because of their high prices and i already have a CD/DVD writer

Change the mobo to the an AMD 780G chipset...
And instead of spending money on a mod PSU, get the Corsair 450VX...And invest in this CPU...

for this build i am building it for my brother and we are going halves on the cost.
and he kinda wants a bit more flashy case.
Raidmax Elite Series Gaming Case Sirius Mid tower - ATX - no power supply - brushed aluminum silver - USB/Audio << he likes this on it has 3 fan instead of 2 would this be better?
Also some else suggested to me i go with the phenom II because its where the future is at instead of sticking with the athlon 64
He suggested using this Cpu: AMD Phenom II X2 550 3.1Ghz 7MB Cache AM3 Black Ed and then saving money on the psu and going with the 450w corsair
He suggests that i change to a AMD 780G chipset but all the boards with this chipset are microATX what is the difference between microATX and ATX and would a motherboard such as:Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-US2H - Motherboard - micro ATX - AMD 780G - Socket AM2+ - UDMA133, Serial ATA-300 (RAID), eSATA - Gigabit Ethernet - FireWire - video - High Definition Audio (8-channel)
If i went with the phenon II processor would i need to get DDR3 ram? or change it to DDR2 1200MHz?

Micro atx boards are just shorter from top to bottom and you lose 2 expansion slots . Most people never fill the pci and pci-e slots on an atx board anyway so no worries at all about going m-atx . M-atx boards fit in atx cases .

Im with gkay about using a 780 or even 770 nb chipset board . The gigabyte you mentioned is a great mb . There are 780 and 770 series mb's that are full atx

If that x2 550 is in the budget thats a stronger processor than the 7750 . Its an am3 processor but still runs in an AM2+ mb with DDR2 ram

The HX corsair is modular and a brilliant psu . I have a 620 w version and its so quiet its amazing .
The 450 watt will be enough though and its good quality so thats a compromise I'd happily make to get the X2 550 processor .

Yes that will all work together and be a good computer
but [ theres always a but ]
the motherboard has chips made by nVidia [ who make the graphics cards ] and they dont perform quite as well as AMD chip sets do
