Ok, so im playin tha open beta for FF14 here and tryin to figure out what i was waiting for in the past few months. This game is absolutely terrible. The models, graphics and style are all beautiful, but they actual game is just sooo bad. I would love to elaborate on why combat, coding and limitations are all balls-ass suck, but I would rather hear you gentlemen's opinion.

Anyone else playing the beta? Having fun? if so, why? :pt1cable:

ya ya dalta always tryin to start something....here I'll explain it again for ya champ:

basically no jumping is an issue for me and explained in depth on several occasions why that is.... because ya just wont drop it. Discussed previous to the jumping idea were things such as poor performance particularly graphical and poor battle interface. The game basically is just not fun.

Just watched the video review for FF14 and as expected....its a joke at this time.

Someone will inevitably feel the need to inform me that mmo's are released unpolished....well this one isn't half done. IGN rated 5.5. oh and the retarded teleportation system, and lack of motion was discussed in the review. Good luck attempting to enjoy this game gentlemen. At current, its a disaster and I think that just hilarious.

SE have said 30 days free for everyone + the 30days free you already get, they accepted they sold us a pile of **** with amazing possibilities there is a update late nov and early dec which I think will change a lot of peoples views :) in the mean time put up with it, play Aion :| lotro :| warhammer :| or WoW where the give you everything you want for a few hours work followed by a huge patch for a tree glitch, just my 2 cent

you don't have to end your paragraph with the 2 cent thing...we are all here to give our opinions or opinions of opinions.

Interesting stuff about the 30 free days. Glad they didn't totally play you guys on that. I imagine SE reputation would go down the tubes quick if they didn't do anything about it.

I have always hoped from the beginning that this game would turn out to be something interesting. Lets pray that the by December this will be a totally different game.

Personally I think game makers should scrap the idea of needing to drastically improve graphics sure there are graphic whores out there but really I would take the crappy graphics of a gameboy over the new and improved graphics of today if the games still carried the same quality of entrapping storyline that the old classics had. Games like guardian's Crusade sucked beyond belief with their graphics but that very game which I mocked daily had a story that made me want to continue to play and feel the way the character "would" feel. Games shouldn't be all about the graphics screw graphics as long as you have a better graphics system then the game's graphics improve automatically it needs to be about the story.

I think all modern gamers can agree that game developer creativity has come to a grinding halt in the past decade or so...you will find that nobody to dispute this idea.

I don't know that graphical improvements are the direct cause for a lack of story line and creativity, but sure they are correlated. Especially when your talking about graphics as seen in a game such as "Braid". The graphics and interface for this game maybe took a week to make. The rest of the development time could therefore be put into the game play...and it was a great game. In fact arim, I think you would like it.

I think one thing people need to take into account is that not all companies rush games to the market leaving tons of time to work on graphics AND gameplay. The classic example being blizzard taking decades to work out Starcraft 2 and diablo3. Yet even after decades of development starcraft 2 only kept me hooked for about a week and that was mostly campaign game play. I love supreme commander 4x more.

On the extreme opposite of the spectrum we have Final fantasy 14. Extremely rushed, all graphics and NO game at all. lol.

one example of a developer that does it perfect is Bethesda. In oblivion and fallout 3 you see somewhat dated character models and some low poly models in general yet the environment looks amazing and the overall feel of the game is smooth and realistic. Basically their focus on graphics to the point where it still looks amazing, but surely they sacrificed little development time on it. Look at the character models in the brand new fallout. They work, but make you wonder if 1999 called and wants it poly count back.
