[citation][nom]mcd023[/nom]Is there anything new about it? or is it the same as playing it on an emulator at whatever resolution you want? XD[/citation]

It has some online features and claims better support for newer hardware and operating systems, but since none of the screenshots I've found are even 1280x720, I wouldn't be surprised if playing it on an emulator looks better.

[citation][nom]master_chen[/nom]Played it perfectly on the 98 SE, on ME (I'm not shitting you), on 2000 (Service Pack 2) and on the XP (Service Pack 2 and Service Pack 3) - never had any problems, at all.[/citation]

Win2k and XP had problems with Chocobo races and snowboarding. Unofficial patches would allow it to work, but good luck with Vista or 7. Also the installer was 16-bit so no way to get it running on a 64-bit system.

[citation][nom]darkavenger123[/nom]I still don't get it...FF7 was on the PC eons ago...unless this is a HD remake, i don't see the point.[/citation]

The original PC release has issues working on modern OS's and hardware. Likely there is expanded resolution options. If I recall right there were some bad glitches that made it into the original PC release as well that would crash the game so these may be fixed now.

I find nothing wrong if with the updating the game to make sure it's playable in modern times. $10 is a modest fee for such. I would gladly pay $10 for this service on many of the classic games.

actually, the game is in hd resolution. i just loaded it up on my laptop and its running at 1366x768. but thats just about all the enhancement youll get. the textures are the same, and the music and colors are the same. But I must say, I am dissapointed at Square with this because the game also features the crappy PSX fps. feels really stuttery if your used to playing games at 30-60 fps. also really hate the cloud saving feature and having to log in to your facebook(?!) or square enix account just to play it.

if you really want to play this I suggest playing the ps3 port(which isnt hd). its got much less drm hassles.

Also, this IS the eidos pc port. the default controls are stupid. Im very surprised they dared to put in such a bad scheme by default.

overal, first impressions are beyond dissapointing, but if the game is worth what the fanboys say its worth, then Ill finish it.

Thanx for the heads up. I had this on PS1, as well as the early pc version, and I was on the verge of buying it this morning, but I had some questions, and you just answered them. You just saved me from throwing $10 down the drain. Propz

Maybe Japanese version had them? Because I never met any problems, like the ones you mentioned, when I bought and played my US copy. My copy played just perfectly - without any glitches/bugs at all.

Works just fine on 32 bit Windows 7 (Service Pack 1, that is), I also tried running it on Windows 7 64 bit through DOS Box.

Yes 1998! Also, there were plenty of bugs!

Won't accept any of my cards. Despite my best attempts at purchasing this, I'm left with little option but to wait for the pirates.

Nice one Square Enix and your awesome digital distribution service.

I was unsuccessful at logging in via the north american purchase link I found. If anyone has successfully downloaded this game, could you put up some full-res screenshots to show whether the backgrounds look any sharper than the original release?

the backgrounds look exactly the same as the ps1 version. which is VERY bad. the only thing in high res are the cutscenes, character models, and battle environments.

also, I am very pissed at the cloud saving thing. having to wait til the game syncs with the cloud for you to be able to save it gets annoying. and if your internet starts to get buggy when you want to save, youre screwed. YOU CANNOT PLAY OFFLINE. my dissapointment in square is at an all time high.
