Looking to replace the current GPU with something more modern. This will be the final upgrade on this machine. This is a backup gaming rig for the kids. Any input would be appreciated. See below specs

MSI P6N SLI PLATINUM MOBO
C2Q Q6700 2.66Ghz CPU
EVGA GTX 570 GPU
8GB DDR2 RAM
840 EVO 256GB SSD & 320GB HDD
720Watt Power Supply

Thanks in advance!

Why not any NVIDIA cards? I'm OK for the R series, just curious. The R7 is going for less than $200 - Thought I'd be spending a lot more!! :) The CPU is limiting the GPU choices, yes?

your cpu is very much limiting your gpu choice you could get a r7 370 or a gtx 950 with no or still a little bottleneck if this is a backup gaming rig just leave it as is and save the money for a better new pc you can handle a slower pc for a week or two if your new does something wrong. I lived 5 months on a dieing r7 250 so trust me youll live

The $ isn't holding me back from a new build. Honestly, money has no bearing on the replacement GPU for this machine. Just wanted to make sure I'm putting the right card inside based on the other components.

well really for a backup system you dont really need a upgrade a 570 is a decent card that runs most games at low to mid setting at 30+fps a 380 is the best card for your system but honestly i would not upgrade unless your 570 is dieing
