Final Thoughts, first PC-Build-to-be (gaming)

This build originated from someone else's specs, and the only item I carried over was the case (I started the editing not knowing what I was doing). It's a bit high for my price range but I'll just save up for a while. Is there anything I need convincing of? If so PLEASE do!

Notes:
- Mainly intended for Skyrim (modded, High settings)
- The case is excellent with cable management and includes a Temp reader and dedicated SSD holder, but if there's anything cheaper and at least has a dedicated SSD holder, do tell.
- To save money, I'm contemplating adding a lower GB HDD in lieu of a 1 TB HDD, which I realize is the better value. However, My OS and games (Skyrim, SimCity and maybe MC) will be on a SSD, so my HDD will only have everyday apps and programs like Office 2010. I hardly download any videos and photos. Put simply, I don't use a lot of memory. Thoughts?
- Win. 7 vs. 8? Does it matter for gaming, or is it just preference.
- I hope to bring this build to fruition within 2 years or sooner!

it looks great, nothing wrong with it.
I prefer w7 always, i think w8 has no place in a desktop pc when it was clearly designed for tablets and touchscreens.

Solid looking build. My only concern would be the fact you intend it for gaming, but spent more money on the processor than the graphics card. With your budget, I'd cut back on the i5 to an i3 and spend the extra money on a 670. Unless of course, you intend on upgrading the graphics card or using SLI. Then the i5 would probably be a better idea. Windows 7 vs 8 is basically preference. There may be more features for gaming in Windows 8, but it's nothing significant right now. I agree with Kurifox though. Windows 8 is for touchscreens. Period.

Well since this build isn't ready now, I think I'll upgrade to a GTX 760 GPU. So I'm gonna have to save up quite a bit now.

Ok, for some reason this wasn't in my head when constructing this list. This build will come to life in say... 1.5 yrs. Lets make it a bit future proof shall we. I can upgrade to a 760 and the CPU to a i5 4670K. Any objections?

The only problem with that is, you're trying to future proof.. in the future. so it'll still be not future proof.

Haha. No, I'll future proof it today... so when the time comes, it won't be completely outdated. Plus, I'm sure It will look a bit different by then. This is just to get an Idea of what my PC will look like.

Alright, that's understandable and also probably a good idea. You can just adjust the build as prices change and technology improves. The only tough part about that is the anticipation of your build.. just the anticipation of current upgrades is killing me.

Very wise decision upgrading to Haswell in cpu, and for the gpu, the gtx 760 performs nearly the same as gtx 660ti(but cheaper with newer architecture of 7xx series), which outperforms the gtx 600 for sure, best of luck with your new rig.
