Finally built a custom PC

I don't game, just use my computer for programming. You know you can get used to the way things are, hesitant to change. So I stuck with this old dell precision for over 5 years. Finally decided it's enough, and built a custom PC.

AMD Ryzen 5 7600 5.1GHz 6C/12T AM5
GIGABYTE B650M DS3H AM5 DDR5 mATX
KINGSTON 1000GB NV2 M.2 2280 PCIE 4.0 NVME SSD
Kingston FURY 32GB (2x16GB) 5200MHz DDR5 CL40 DIMM
Seasonic B12 BC-750 80 PLUS Bronze 750W ATX Power Supply

The difference is insane. IDE doesn't take 30s to load. Tabs open way faster. Fans don't go blazing. I keep noticing new things that are faster.

Don't be like me. Improve your work setup if you can.

I also am a self builder who does not do gaming,

No lack of respect for those who do, I acknowledge both the widespread appeal and the incentive it creates to push development.

But my needs are different.

They include connectivity - (I am using devices for purposes which I had not foreseen, and linked to hardware which I had not predicted.) Also longevity and ability to upgrade are more important to me, as there is a larger system of hardware that represents too large a sunk cost for me to abandon in order to pursue having the latest standard.

Perhaps there are few of us who fall into this category. It is very rare that I find advice which is relevant to my non-gamer needs!
