So, after many years I have successfully upgraded every part of my Dell Inspiron 3847, including the power supply (750w), CPU (Intel i7 4790 - non K), memory, hard drive (SSD), and graphics card (EVGA 1060 6GB SC). I have even had to replace the original Dell motherboard, which was a pain as it is proprietary and the only one compatible with the case.
I'm not happy with the my GPU temps and feel like the airflow in the old case is the problem. The card is nearly at throttling temp (83C) playing most games.
If I upgrade the case I will definitely get a new mobo and probably a new CPU.
What's a solid choice for a case and motherboard that will work with the components I already have? I'm happy playing at 1080p 144Hz, but would like the option to upgrade to 4K in the future. Should I stick with an Intel processor or go with AMD? Should I look for a certain brand of case or mobo--or avoid certain ones?
Apologies if this is too general, but I'm trying to wrap my head around this and find a solid jumping-off point.
