Find BIOS without a operating system on PC

I would like to try to reflash my BIOS. The motherboard is an HP made by Pegatron Corporation, VIOLET 6. Version 6.01. All the tutorials to find the correct BIOS say to install software to find out what BIOS I need. The problem with that is the fact I do not have an OS. I cannot install one because either the BIOS is bad or the sata controller is failing. Id like to flash BIOS before I buy a new motherboard.

-- When using the hardware detection tool on the UBCD it says I am running American Megatrends v5.14 BIOS, released 1/19/2010,revision 8.15.

When you enter the BIOS it should say the bios version. Are you able to enter the BIOS and look?

American Megatrends v2.61 is what it says when i enter the BIOS

i dont know where i can download it from. American megatrends just has software to tell me what i need

find your exact model on HP supported site.

the reason you cant find on American Megatrends is because they do not distribute the BIOS to the public only to the OEM's. The motherboard manufacturer distributes the proper BIOS versions for there boards. Like rgd1101 mentioned go to HP's web site and look up support and downloads for your exact machine to find the BIOS for your board.
