Finding a Cooler With A Case

I'm going to be getting a BitFenix Nova. (Here: https://pcpartpicker.com/product/HDqbt6/bitfenix-case-bfxnov100wwxkkrp) and I am looking for a CPU cooler for my AMD Athlon II X2 255.
The stock cooler doesn't do too well and I am just looking to upgrade that, but I absolutely hate the look of the block style coolers (such as the Hyper evo 212) and was looking for something like the Cryorig C7 (Flatter, SFF style) and possibly going to upgrade to a 6600k later on, and would probably reuse the cooler.
I don't care that much for loudness as I've been living with the stock cooler forever now. Looking for something really under $50 that isn't a giant brick, and I'm not sure about space constraints with the Nova.

I wouldn't bother spending that much money on that stuff, your CPU is quite outdated, and the case has terrible airflow.
The C7 is also worse than a usual budget cooler, so unless running an ITX setup it isn't worth it.
List your full current specs and budget for an upgrade.

I was just looking for any others, possibly something better than the C7 if I were to upgrade later on. I will probably buy the C7 for now, but looking for that SFF cooler for a later date.

Keep it mind it will fit, but it doesn't cool very well relative to other options for LESS like the Cryorig M9a.
The CPU is also quite old, time for a hardware upgrade first.
A cooler and case will only get you so far.

I agree that the cryorig C7 will not be much help if you choose to update your cpu to anything from this generation.

However that's quite a jarring presence, coolers improve temps, but when the base hardware isn't that high performance, something like saving for a G4560 combo instead of a cooler and case upgrade can be far more beneficial.

It also comes with a solid stock cooler which solves your noise woes.
I'm only trying to suggest the best options for you, but if you want a short term solution the M9a is a good choice as mentioned for only $19.
On par with the 212 Evo, quieter, shorter and cheaper.


If you're on the way to an upgrade soon, a Ryzen 1600 would be a better choice over an i5 for the higher thread count, as DX12 and UE4 for example utilize more cores, and 4 cores non-HT is on the way out in terms of relevance. If possible hold out until then with the stock solution, but it's fine to get the M9a now, you just need to order an Intel bracket when the time comes for free from Cryorig.

I already have a high-end build. I asked for a Cooler that would suit my liking and performance.
If you really feel like you need to know, this is going onto a server PC where all it is doing is running a couple of servers for games. I'm looking to upgrade the aesthetics a little bit and lower the temps. I don't care for a new system.

If you're going to tell me I should have put that in my main post, then I'm going to tell you that I shouldn't have to. I asked for what I did and the answers I get should pertain to the question and not just a random suggestion.

The G4560 would require a new motherboard as well, and I'm getting a new case and PSU anyway.

With that said, adding a new CPU and mobo would be an extra $126.

Right now, I'm spending $102 with the Case, cooler and PSU, instead of an extra $106, and I would probably want a cooler with that CPU too just because temps. So, another $20-30.

Apologies, but unless explicitly stated we can only assume that it's a standard rig for normal use, and spending on a cooler for a regular system would have been a poor investment.
Given it's a server now though I can fully understand your cooler scenario.
Grab these, running servers can be particularly thread heavy with some games, so a Ryzen upgrade isn't out of the question in future over a 6600k, of which the current equivalent would be a 7600k. ATX mobo I presume?
I've also added a fantastic value PSU solution.
If you have a high wattage GPU installed get the S12II 620w.

I'm going to be buying the Cryorig M9a, and the BitFenix Nova with an ATX mobo. Honestly the Raidmax Viper looks absolutely abismal even given the lack of cooling, and I am going to buy the EVGA BQ 500w PSU, makes cable management a million times easier and allows a better rig later on if I choose to.

That Spec 04 is really convincing, sadly the Silence is a bit out of price range to the others and looks meh.

All those cases have great cooling it looks like, 'specially the Focus.

Yeah, the focus is relatively quiet too. Quite a good little case.
There's also a yellow/black SPEC-04 for $10 less, as well as a Grey/Black one for the same price.

Just changed my total cart to This. Better case, I think a better PSU ? Tell me if the EVGA BQ 500 would be a better option. After choosing the Corsair 450 one I believe hte EVGA would be better, given the higher wattage and flat cables for everything.

It's made by Andyson. If you have never heard of them you may have heard of Raidmax and the rather poor reputation the deservedly have. Andyson makes most of Raidmaxs units. So not a brand I trust.
2. There are currently no trusted professional reviews(atleast none I can find) for it, So it's possible it might be decent but not something I would risk my system with.

The Corsair CXM is a known decent unit and easily the better/safer choice between the 2.

Doing a quick google search led me to This. They're made by Fortron Source Power, and are known to be average to slightly above average.

Given that I know Corsair, Seasonic and some others manufacture their own PSU's I will probably keep the Corsair CXM 450w.

^ no, the bq 450 is definitely an andyyson & the higher rated 650w & up are hec.

The Gq is an fsp unit range.

That said corsair don't make their own psu's either , the cx450m is a cwt unit but a very decent one.

Re flat blower coolers


The raijintek pallas is one of the absolute best out there

Its big though still with bits 140mm fan & they're now hard to find.
