Finding a Printer that has can last a while without printing ink

Hey everyone so I have two printers one is kinda old school wired printer small but hasn't been in use in some time the other I picked up last year... the Epson WF-2540 http://www.amazon.com/Epson-WorkForce-WF-2540-Wireless-Printer/dp/B00CBGI706

The thing is I barely print anything but when it comes to a need to print something my ink cartridges have been sitting so long 2-3 months or so that their dried up and I can't print squat... Is there something I could do to remedy this? I mean maybe not open a cartridge till I need to print is one idea but I am wondering if there are better options out there and Eco tank by epson @ 399 a pop for the cheap model is not ideal lol.

Not sure if there is anything I could really do besides buy more cartridges but would appreciate any help or advice.

If you don't need color and just want to print every-so-often, can't beat it for $30.

Indeed, better advice. Solution isn't always to buy something else 🙁

Could create a batch file to run with scheduler too every so often:

Ive had great luck with an inexpensive laser printer. The Samsung CLP series can be found fairly cheap, and a complete set of color toner cartridges can be bought for about $16

thanks for the replies guys im gonna see if I could create the scheduler to print a test page every so often might be the way to go... i mean it is a good printer just an annoying situation I usually find myself in.
