Finding my security key for my linksys wireless router

Hello, bought my first laptop and need to link to my linksys G router. trouble is, I need the security code and the home pc its on is dead. I do have the disc for the router, should I install that on the lappy or not? my daughters pc is running on the router as we speak.

In some cases the security code can be found on the bottom of the router.
