Hello Verizon is insisting I install the latest TV set top boxes They are suggesting, twisting my arm, to install a new router for $18.00 rental fee. Will my G1100 router work with the new boxes? I am not interested in the speed upgrade, which is free. I am getting conflicting answers. They did not provide a model number of the new boxes in their email, I appreciate any help

I had exactly the same.
New STBs with the existing G1100.

Yes, it works.

They send you the new STB(s), you send the old ones back via USB in the same box.

What speed upgrade are they talking about.
That may indeed need a different router, or connection from the ONT to the router.
Mine did not. I stayed at my current 100/100 level.

Thanks for the reply My speed is 75/75 They want to upgrade to 100/100 which is nice, but I can survive with 75/75 We just surf the web, and the current router cover our entire 3500 sq foot house. Actually they are rolling a truck to do this, I did not request that.

With your current 75/75, or moving to 100/100, you should NOT need any change except for the new STBs.
I didn't.

I had the same kind of message....We want you to upgrade, but you'll need all need equipment.
False.

Thanks buddy. Appreciate your help. Yeah they were twisting my arm/demanding I get the latest router I am perfectly content withe the present one, and there is no rental fee. Guess it's commissioned based?

Commission probably, yes.

My switch was pretty painless.

They are doing this, because your existing STB are likely old, They want to proactively replace before they actually die and incur nasty user calls.
