Considering you're computer could easily handle 64GB ram, no reason to complain lol. Car's used to not require gas lol...only feet or a horse lol. Then they got better.....and required more to use....

Also, I have never once looked to see how much RAM any of my 3 different browsers used lol, I have never had a reason to, ever. I have always had plenty of CPU, RAM, GPU, etc. for the current decade I was in lol. Why do video card companies keep increasing RAM in video cards....? Something to do with games requiring more RAM....? wierd

newer and newer games uses higher resolution textures which eats up a lot of GPU RAM, even if you only play at 1920x1080. Then there are mods or patches to games wich replaces the old low res textures into high res ones. Mainly, what eats GPU RAM is textures and the resolution you play at.

I wonder if they're ever going to fix the blurry font directwrite issue. I can't view pages without a headache when HW acceleration is on. Aside from blurring fonts, it seems to mess up the layout of certain sites, like the menu on XKCD. Is it so hard to have HW acceleration with the old method of using fonts? I've tried various tweaks (plugins, config settings), but it just doesn't truly fix the problem. I do run without the acceleration now, but this is a showstopper bug.

Never heard of this bug and never ahd it myself...

Be glad, because it really sucks. (Just search for "Firefox blurry font" and see what the fuss is about.) Apparently it doesn't affect everyone, either. I just installed version 5, and layout seems a bit improved (XKCD is rendering correctly, for example), and fonts might be a bit better, but they still seem a bit blurry. It's tolerable, and hopefully they'll fix this completely in version 6.

So far, FF5 looks pretty nice, though a couple of my plugins refuse to work even with the compatibility check disabled. This is expected with new versions, though.

[citation][nom]ajay_vishvanathan[/nom]firefox 6 alpha 2 is out already..already when firefox 5 is in beta 6.. 😵[/citation]
If you download a build from the mozilla-central repository you'll see that they're already up to 7.0a1.

Well that's just fine and dandy. FF4 still crashes when I attempt to use it. But why bother fixing bugs.. lets just put out a new release.

Still running 3.6. I don't see any motivation at all to have to keep updating my browser...especially since Mozilla is now fast-tracking their upgrade cycle.

Don't Fix what doesnt need fixing.

[citation][nom]eddieroolz[/nom]Yawn.Maybe they should actually fix the issues - like Firefox leaking 500MB of memory with 1 tab open.Thank God I have 6GB...[/citation]

Exactly. Tired of ballooning resource use when leaving a browser running! All of them do it and especially if you are streaming or have several tabs open. Please FF and others optimize your browsers!

[citation][nom]smuggl3r[/nom]I tried to switch from Firefox to Chrome, but I went back to Firefox. The reason: when I open a link in a new tab in firefox there is an option so that it will get focus automatically. In Chrome I can't do this. I have to click again on the tab I just opened. I clicked on the f***** link so that I can view it, not to hide it. Is it really that hard to understand, google?[/citation]

That's weird, cause that's exactly why I use Chrome over Firefox. I like to open multiple tabs and then go through them later, ie Toms Hardware articles.

Is it really still necessary to plaster that "Firefox girl" image on every article relating to Firefox? It's probably also copyright infringement in addition to being hackneyed.

But yeah, this new version is just a point release being labelled as a new version due to pressure from Chrome's asinine versioning system. It's hard to blame Mozilla in a way, there's no way this article would exist if they'd labelled the new version 4.1

[citation][nom]alidan[/nom]ill switch to 4 or 5 when their ram footprint also gets down to 3.5 levels. WHY do programs bloat when they get newer versions.[/citation]

Because I have over 13 GB of iddle RAM and it makes me feel good? Keep up with the memory leaks and I might pass the 50% mark for the first time!

Is this some kind of version war cause this is clearly v4.1.0

Maybe FF15 will be able to compete more easily with Chrome14 in the imaretardwhocompareversionnumbersbetweenprograms demographic....

All those whining about the RAM usage in FF you are welcome to get Chrome.

You even get some bonus features like: improved UI dumbness, less complicated to choose add ons and all your queries are belong to google!
