Question FireWire support for Windows 10?

This sounds ridiculous, but I bought a nice camera for relatively cheap. It's a SONY HVR-A1J Camera, and it's pretty old. It uses FireWire. I have an on-board FireWire card (Vantec FireWire 800/400). The only problem is, no program is able to get record footage off the camera and save it to my computer. I've tried Movie Studio Platinum 13, Windows Photo Gallery, and HDVSplit. All programs give me errors. HDVSplit was able to record audio (but it was of very low quality), but no video. Does anyone have any solution, or has found a way to upload video to Windows 10 PC through FireWire? I'm a poor boy and can't afford to buy a regular camera that uses USB.

Windows 10 is for rich people that can afford buying new computers and equipment at regular base.

Linux will probably be able to get those images. I suggest trying Linux Mint or Linux Lite, as they're supposed to be somewhat easier to use for those used to windows.
You can run/try Linux from an CD/DVD or a bootable usb stick without making any changes to the windows installation.

While your Linux suggestion will probably work, Windows 10 is no more for 'rich people' than any other non Linux OS in the last 30 years.

The Windows 8.1 Microsoft driver I posted does install and work just fine in Windows 10. It just gets replaced with the nonworking one during every "feature update" so needs to be reinstalled with each build. Perhaps someday Microsoft will include a working driver in 10 but for now this is the workaround

Ok, my comment was posible slightly off the edge.

But truth being told, Microsoft is a corporate business and it's goal is to earn money - a lot of money. Therefore it is neccesary to include mechanisms that made customers to spend more money (it obviously won't be enough if every user could buy a licence only once a lifetime).

But in order to help the OP (hopefully ve do) - I agree to the advice of BFG-9000.

I have the drivers and everything, but still no program wants to work properly. HDVSplit does record the footage, video and audio, but only for about 3 or 4 minutes until my entire computer freezes and requires a restart.
