Hi!
I have a similar build - using antec 900 - and would change the install order slightly.. from what was recommended by akhilles
"install in this order: standoffs, case cooling, dvd, hdds, floppy, drive bay devices, barebone mobo, front panel wires, drive cables, case cooling wires, & lastly the video"
to install the mobo with your CPU/HS etc (barebone) before installing the rear exhaust fan. In my build, it was very hard (if not impossible) to get the mobo past the drive bay devices and the rear exhaust fan.
I have the extra power cable plugged into the vid card but i'm not sure where to plug it in from there...
Extra power cable? You mean the PCIE connector from the PSU right? You should not have to plug it anywhere else... or did I misunderstand your Q?
Tomorrow I am going to attach the fan to teh heatsink and to the door. I really don't have much room for the metal clasp so I was thinking of zip tying it, would that be ok?
which fan are you talking about? the HS fan? If so, there is no need to attach it to the door (if you did, you wouldn't be able to open the case up...) As a side note, it may not be possible to have the side fan for the case (if you are planning to install one) if you install the Ultra 120 - mine doesn't fit after the Ultra 120 Extreme... no space in the case
Also, the fan on the top of the case... I think that's exhaust right? If it is I'm going to mount my 120mm fan on my ultra-120 facing that exhaust to blow the hot air right out the top of my case. Is that a good idea?
Usually, people put the 120mm on ultra 120 facing the rear exhaust, but I don't see any reason to not have it blow the hot air out the top exhaust instead... might actually work better!
