I am planning my first build. I have a budget of around 1000 (less if possible, more if needed/desireable) and I wanted some feedback on my current draft.
CPU: AMD FX 8350 Black
Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X EVO R2.0 (also considering the pro)
GPU: EVGA GeForce GTX 970 Super
Clocked
RAM: Patriot Viper 3 Low Profile
PSU: Antec neo eco 620w
Storage: planning on finding a cheap one from a friend or online.
i'm looking to play games like farcry and battlefield on 1 perhaps 2 1080 monitors.
i'm not totally sold on these parts and any feedback is appreciated.
I live in California and my current setup is about 900$

If you're going for a 8350/990 mobo, get a I5 4460/H97 motherboard instead. It will perform better. Make sure the graphics card has the 2.0 cooler, no the regular ACX one.

We can help change it (make it better) if you give us your location and the current price of the build you listed.

I actually have that same CPU/motherboard combo. It's a good setup as a multi-tasking workstation and/or test/development platform with ECC memory support and an IOMMU, but is a poor value for gaming IMO. The arrangement of execution resources is not ideal for real-time workloads compared to i5 haswell products.

I added location and current cost. I am looking at a 60gb ssd in addition to a slower hard drive for thing I don't need to be as fast.

I can only recommend that you should consider a balanced system.
The slowest bit of hardware is the storage so thats why I recommend an SSD, perhaps minimum 160gb as 60gb is a bit mean for the primary OS drive. If you can install the games on the primary SSD that will give fast loading times and better performance allround.
Throwing all your money on an expensive GFX card but sacrificing the primary drive isnt giving a balanced system.
Also, check that your case will be able to take the size of the GFX card before buying either.
I wont give a list of parts as there are too many to choose from and Im an Intel guy not AMD so that adds another spanner in the works.

Whatever you buy, consider that the parts most likely to remain in the case the longest are the ones to place in order of importance as you are unlikely to upgrade them for 3-4 years. (1,2 and 3)
1. Motherboard
2. CPU
3. PSU
4. Storage
5. Memory
6. GFX card

Lastly, dont get drawn into the overclocking ideas as it only creates alot of heat and stresses the components.
Others may have alternate views about all this so I have posted it in the thread.
Good luck with the build and hope all goes well.
