First build help water cooling

I have the h100i gtx.
It comes with pre installed thermal paste but if i decided to change the fans on the radiator is it true I have to take the water cooler of and reapply thermal paste to it? or i dont need to aslong as i dont removed the block off the cpu?

The fans can be replaced without having to remove the waterblock. That way the paste can stay as-is.

Thanks in what situations do i need to re apply or add new thermal paste to the water block.
For example if i havent changed it after a long time or something else

Any time you remove the block. Good paste lasts a long time (years)
