First Build input needed

doing my first build..trying to keep my cost below $1200 including monitor. I haven't done much gaming recently, but would like to get back into it. also a new job i may be getting would require mild video editing.


so far i have this set up in mind...

I wouldn't worry about getting a SSD.

Focus on the parts that could potentially affect video editing performance. That would be the RAM, CPU and GPU.

For the CPU, the i5 3570k will perform well in these tasks, but not as well as the i7 3770k. However, the i7 is also $100 more expensive.

As for the GPU, if you plan on using Adobe for editing and rendering, you'll want a Nvidia GPU for its CUDA cores. Adobe loves CUDA and performs noticeably better with it.

And finally for RAM, 16gb would be ideal. However, 8gb will get the job done.

Here's a revised build if you don't plan on doing Crossfire. By the way, SLI/Crossfire isn't going to help in video editing and rendering.

i do not plan to CF, but depending on how much video editing the job may entail, i would like the ability to...i guess if i do need to CF though i could just expense the bigger PSU and additional video card. lol.
