First build questions comments

I am in the process of building my first PC. I have done a decent amount of research and have narrowed it down to the system listed:

Intel Core i7 920
EVGA E785-TR 3-Way SLI LGA 1366 Intel X58 ATX
EVGA 896-P3-1260-AR GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 SLI Supported X 2
OCZ Platinum 6GB (3X2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Seagate Barracude 7200.12 ST31000528AS 1TB
HP 22X DVD Burner with LightScribe Black SATA Model 1170i
Antec Twelve Hundred BK RT case
PSU Rosewill/RBR1000-M 1000W RT
Vista 32 bit for home builders

I am a very novice OC'er and play to be very VERY modest in regards to OCing this system until I can do plenty of research and better understand this process. My main concern is the system running to hot. I have never messed with water cooling and would honestly like to keep from it if possible. Would the system above REQUIRE a CPU water cooling system or is the heat sync that comes with the i7 good enough considering the size of the case and the air flow the case will allow? If you feel it is more or less a must for water cooling what is another build I can consider in the same ball park that would not require W/C? I would appriciate any advise or guidance I could get regarding this build. Currenly I have already purchased the Case, P/S and Vista all other things are up in the air but I have narrowed it down to this spec build based on my research.

FYI I will be using a Dell 24' Monitor $200 model.....

1. You will need 64-bit Vista to take advantage of 6GB of RAM. No reason to run 32bit on a system like this.

2. STAY AWAY from Rosewill PSU's. For 2 260's in SLI (which I believe is what you intended) a nice Corsair or PC Power and Cooling 750W unit will suffice.

3. Water cooling is not needed. Pick up a nice Xigmatek S-1283/ Mugen 2 / Coolermaster V8 and you'll be fine.

And a heads up on the heatsink on the EVGA near the CPU socket, it might block some CPU coolers...

I'm almost 99% sure you're planning on purchasing all of this stuff @ newegg. Not a con, just a note lol.

Don't get an OS yet, wait for Windows 7. In the meantime get the 64-bit Release Candidate.

You don't need 1000 watts for your system. Get the 550, 650, or 750watt corsair- I think people tend to freak out over the power supply and get more than they'll ever need. Unless you plan on doing SLI (which you aren't bc you have single graphics card), you won't need more that 500ish watts.

fyi, don't buy the ocz memory unless you don't plan on ever seeing the $20 mail in rebate.

imo, i like the p6t better because of the express gate and awesome features... you won't need the 3x sli from the evga board unless you do 3x sli..

might want to get the gtx 260 core 216 or gtx 275 instead of the 260.

a cheat cpu cooler like the mugen 2 works wonders. the mugen 2 has given me a consistent 4ghz oc plus it has some of the quietest results. i think xbitlabs has a review of it.

It sounds like he DOES want SLI because he has this:

EVGA 896-P3-1260-AR GeForce GTX 260 896MB 448-bit GDDR3 SLI Supported X 2

Because of that I wouldn't recommend anything less than 750W.

Few corrections, Vista is 64 bit, and as stated above I do plan for SLI. I have already purchased Roswell P/S so I am more or less stuck with it at this point. I watched a review on the Mobo and was curious about the stock heatsync on the board and wondered if any one knew if a 3rd party one would work with out the fan getting in the way? If so what other board would you suggest in the same price range? Whould anyone recommend a overhaul and going with a AMD build? As stated this is mostly for gaming if so I am looking to spend around 1.2k excluding case, vista and P/S, any build recommendations around that price?
