Im building my first rig, here's what I have so far:

GPU -EVGA GTX970
CPU -Intel i5 6600k
MOBO -Gigabyte Technology ATX 3466MHz (Socket LGA 1151) Z-170X
RAM- Gskill Ripjaws 16GB DDR4 (2x)
SSD- PNY CS1311 240GB Internal SATA III ssd
HDD- WD Blue 1TB
PSU- Corsair CX600 600W
COOLER- Corsair Hydro Series H60
Case- Corsair Carbide 200R

and some Artic Silver thermal cream, Windows 10 usb, HDMI cable, antistatic wristband, mini screw driver and kb/mouse. I'll be using my 50" 4k Samsung in my room as a monitor for now.

So 3 Questions I have......
Am I missing anything to build it?
Are all these parts compatible?
Is this is a decent first build?

Solution
1. Pcpartpicker.com (Trust me)
2. SSD - I would switch it to the Samsung EVO 250GB SSD instead.
3. The Corsair CXanything is a low quality power supply. Don't be fooled by the corsair name. I would recommend one of these instead...

Either one of these should be fine, have heard all great things about both of them. The EVGA one is Semi-Modular, so you would have cleaner cable management.
Other than that, your build seems to be a nice, solid gaming rig! Would be easier to help and see everything if you used Pcpartpicker! Hope I helped! :)

Am I missing anything to build it? No, looks like you have everything you need.
Are all these parts compatible? Yes, they will all work with each other.
Is this is a decent first build? Kind of. Get rid of that junk psu and use this quality psu this instead. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139042

Why are you using a gtx 970 with a 4k monitor? If you're planning to game on 4k using that, forget it. You'll need at least 2xgtx 980ti to achieve 4k 60fps. 1440p is the max you should do on the GTX 970. If you want 4k 60fps, wait for pascal. You'll be shelling out about $800 for 4k.

Ok. Cool. Doesn't the GTX 970 seem like a waste of money though? If you can wait, use on-board graphics until pascal comes out. Still...its your money and you get to spend it, but I'd suggest you to wait.

Im building it following the Oculus Rift minimum specs and to basically play any game Max settings 1080p 60fps (some games 1440p). When Pascal comes out I'll upgrade for 4k and smoother VR.
