First build, screens freeze after idle

Hey guys, I built my first PC back in February of this year. As it was my first, I expected to have problems and to have to troubleshoot, but I have one problem left to solve, and I can't find an answer anywhere.
When I leave it idle, the screens will either freeze, or go black. If a program is running it freezes, but if all apps are closed and its on the desktop, the screens go black, as if it went to sleep.
All of my research points to power management settings, but I have tried everything in the settings of power management. When this happens my keyboard and mouse lights stay on, but won't change, i.e. caps lock light won't come on if it is off, etc. I have to hold the power button for 5ish seconds to shut it down and reboot.
This problem has never occurred to me when using the pc, which I only use for gaming. BUT, I let a friend use it to view some pictures off of her SD card, and she had the screens freeze while she was viewing photos.
I don't know if it matters, but if I manually put it into sleep mode before leaving, it wakes up normally when returning, but if I forget to shut it down, or put into sleep, it will freeze, usually overnight, but it doesn't always happen. Some times I come back to it after leaving it idle overnight and everything seems normal.
This problem has been happening since after the first week. Really hoping for some insight and/suggestions as to what to do.

I'm sorry for the wall of text, but I wanted to give as much information as I could.
I'm running Windows 10 and my build is :

Case: NZXT Phantom 410
MB: Asus Z170-A
Graphic: EVGA GeForce GTX 960 4GB
Processor: Intel i5-6500 6m Skylake
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws V 8GB DDR4 (x2)
SSD: 256GB (Gift from friend, not sure on make)
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
PS: EVGA 80 Plus Gold 550

UPDATE AND FIX
It took me forever but I updated my BIOS and it solved this problem.........

It started after around the first week, probably day 10 of having it running. I initially had some problems with windows 10 as I'd never installed an SSD or an OS. But once it was running it seemed perfect. Until this odd blank screen stuff started, then I realized it would freeze instead of going black if I left a program open.

I have no other problems from it though. I mainly play WoW, like WoW is 95% of this rigs use, and I never have problems with it.
The problems occur when I leave it idle.

Well, if you say you checked the power settings and all of those are disabled, the only thing I can think of is the RAM. RAM that is damaged a certain way can provide these same issues. I would start with removing one of your RAM modules and testing with the other if need be.

I just found a thread regarding memtest86 after searching ram threads. I'm gonna give this a go tomorrow and hope for the best. Will update with my findings.

Well the problem with removing 1 stick and using the other is that if the problem doesn't occur, I may think that's a good stick, whereas I actually didn't give it enough time to remake the problem, which I could give each stick ample time to recreate it, maybe a week per? 8gb of ram in single channel should be plenty for what I'm doing, hopefully. Thanks for the help and suggestions, sir. I'll update hopefully tonight with what memtest86 gives and then give each stick a go on its own for a week each.

Its all seeming good. I went to 1 stick Saturday morning and there has been no freeze, nor black screen yet. Friday I'm gonna throw in the other stick and run with it only and go from there.
Seeming fine as of now. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Slight update. Had a friend come over and wanted to see if he could fix my problem. Reinstalled the other stick of ram and let him do his thing. He couldn't find anything, and we talked for about an hour not using the rig, then he left, I went back to it and it was frozen. It had went 2+ days on 1 stick with no freeze, an hour on 2 and it froze. I have it back to running 1 stick and am gonna give until Friday and then run with the other, but after today, I'm betting the 2nd stick is bad. Will keep updating g.

Yea I was gonna run it in the slot for a few days, and if the problem occurred again, I was gonna try both in the two other slots, but I'll just go ahead and use a slot that hasn't been used today with 2 stick.

Update:
First iteration of ram was stick #1 in B2, stick #2 in A2 dimm slots. (User guide recommendation)
Second iteration was stick #1 in B2.
Third iteration is stick #2 in A1.

I think I've found the problem. Idk why it's taken me this long to do it, but I popped the cover off and looked inside while it was frozen and the video card is ?locked? Up. The fans aren't moving on it, one seems to be trying to move, but both are sitting still. Any clue as to what may be causing that and if that's the problem or not?
