Just downloaded and installed the new A-36 from Dreamfleet. Don't know how
long it will take for me to learn all the fancy instruments, but boy, does
it ever fly sweet. Even better that the Archer II. Better go for it,
Varmit, and you too, Dart. Bill

Hey, Bill, I got my problems sorted out and took a quick flight, too. The
RealXP Garmin GNS430 makes the aircraft package a steal at their asking
price.

Over the next few days I hope to take it for a longer flight to get a
better feel for the handling (for example, drop the gear and lose 30 kts
airspeed).

My first impressions while poking around the cockpit were very favorable;
it's clear that a lot of thought and design went into this aircraft.

Eek! I've already got the following on the immediate acquisition list
to celebrate my upcoming computer upgrade...

RealAir Scout
RealAir Spitfire
Aerosoft Piper Super Cub
Captain Sim F104
Holger's Misty Fjords
MegaScenery Pacific Northwest

And now you want me to get the A-36 as well?! I really have my heart
set on the items listed above, so will it be okay if I wait just a
little bit before getting yet another plane? 🙂

The above two are not your style...

I guess you've been away shooting snakes and such, so you may have
missed some recent posts. 🙂

Even though I don't have an interest in these particular planes for
use in my still preferred low and slow bush flying, I have become
inspired to try a couple of truly "high performance" aircraft; one in
each category (prop and jet) for now. Since these two come highly
recommended by people here whose opinions I respect, I'll be giving
them a try! 🙂

Besides, I'm not always comfortable being pigeonholed into a
particular "style" (be it in flight simming or anything else for that
matter), so just because I haven't yet mentioned my perhaps
evolving/eclectic tastes with regards to my simming habits, don't be
too surprised by anything short of a desire to fly "heavies" or drop
bombs and blow up things (now *that* would be well beyond my "style"!
🙂).

That's OK... but remember the rule that you coauthored, if FS starts to get
boring... go back to little single engine aircraft.

I've forgotten, and remembered, and forgotten this rule dozens of times...
then I bang my palm against my head and remember it again.

No worries in this regard! 🙂 I will always love "low and slow"
flying with my slow yet lovely single engine prop planes; especially
with some of the new scenery I'll be installing very soon! 🙂

Speaking of installing scenery, I may even have to begin seriously
considering a larger hard drive! Eek! Short of a new motherboard,
this time next week I may have a nearly new machine! Reminds me of
my car when I first bought it (used). After getting "this and that"
fixed and replaced over the first several months, the engine and
*several* other essential bits were nearly all new! Hee hee...can
you tell that I know very little about buying used cars? ;-)

You might recall the early days when Derek Wildstar hung around the group?
The common wisdom was that your PC should be "balanced" and "tuned". Bottom
line was that the smart thing to do was to gut the insides, except for the
drives and power supply, and rebuild everything with the current generation
of hardware.

I know you didn't want to hear that. 🙂
