Hey guys , This is going to be my First PC build and I am going to use it for pure gaming and browsing . I'm having a 10 year old Vaio Laptop and it's too outdated to play new games with it's 1 gig ram . I've already had Some parts in my mind , I searched alot on the Internet but then I only got more confused :/ .

So , These are the parts I need for my build :

CPU ( i5 4690 k ? )
GPU ( gtx 970 ? )
Motherboard
Case
Display ( 1080p )
Power Supply
Ram
Storage ( Prefer a ssd and a hdd , or is hybrid better ? )
Cpu Cooler ( cm 212 evo ? )
Optical Drive.

Budget = 80 k INR max , not a rupee higher ;-; but if price will drop please tell me :) , All Parts Should be Available in Indian Online Stores. ( flipkart.com , amazon.in , ebay.in , snapdeals.com , primeabgb.com,etc ) because I'm from India and I don't have local stores near my home . aaand about oc and sli/Crossfire , I might do oc in future but i'm not sure about Sli/Crossfire. I'll be purchasing parts in or after march 28 ( approximate ) .

Thank you ,

Hi there, I recommend that IF you are sticking with the GTX 970 GPU, that you do not restrict your Frame rates to 60FPS with a 60Hz monitor, but instead go for a 120Hz -144Hz monitor. My GTX 970 is putting out 90-100FPS average on newer games I own like Project Cars and Middle earth- Shadow of Mordor and that's with the games set on...

One Vital piece of information is missing. What monitor or display will you be wanting to use? 1080p, 1440p, 4K?? And at what Hz will your monitor be running? The GTX 970 is where the smart money is and CURRENTLY is all you need for 1080p. The CPU you have chosen is the gamers choice on that Intel socket ( Haswell) but it does need an equally capable motherboard to make use of the "K" i.e the overclocking capability that you are paying for. At stock it's great but with an overclock it really shines... next point..if you do plan on overclocking the CPU you will need a great CPU cooler. The CM hyper 212 Evo is indeed very capable and is affordable for a little overclocking. The storage option? That's a no brainer... a Hybrid drive will NOT match the all out speed /low noise/low heat of having a dedicated SSD for your boot drive. I would recommend any of the current SSD of capacity 120Gb or more. I always use a samsung. 64 Gb is enough to hold windows BUT you need additional space for all other programs also. HDD's I'm no expert on, but I'm sure you can pick up 1Tb sata 6 Gb/s (Sata III) drives for about 40Gbp ( don't know how much this is in rupees :). This will be your storage drive for media including games. Hope some of this helped.

The ssd , i'll go with the samsung as you said , and the hdd , can you tell me which one is better,The Seagate barracuda or the Western Caviar blue/red/black/green ? Thank you for reply .

Hi there, I recommend that IF you are sticking with the GTX 970 GPU, that you do not restrict your Frame rates to 60FPS with a 60Hz monitor, but instead go for a 120Hz -144Hz monitor. My GTX 970 is putting out 90-100FPS average on newer games I own like Project Cars and Middle earth- Shadow of Mordor and that's with the games set on high-ultra settings! So to stick with a 60 Hz monitor I think is an opportunity lost. More FPS your monitor displays the smoother the gameplay and in fast paced games like racing games and first person shooters those extra frames can actually benefit you in terms of giving you a competitive edge. The ideal partner for the GTX -970 is in my opinion a 1080p monitor with a refresh rate of 120-144Hz . IF you do decide to SLI the 970's then this higher refresh rate will definitely benefit you in the future also!

I run a 144Hz 1080p monitor and I used to run a 60hz monitor and.....I couldn't go back to 60Hz!

In regards to the HDD? I wouldn't put a lot of thought into it, I would go for the one priced most competitively, I have a Western digital green 1Tb drive and it is quiet and doe not seem to put out much heat at all even when reading /writing a lot of data. AND it was cheap. The western digital BLACK is recommended for gaming however by the company themselves whereas the green is for regular storage /media . I'm not sure what the differences are really but I am sure they will lay in slightly faster speeds for the black model.

If you are running a the i5- 4690k and the GTX 970 I recommend a 600w Bronze 80+ Power supply minimum, Ideally a 750 W bronze 80+ if you plan on overclocking both CPU and GPU ( This will still give you plenty of headroom).
If you plan on SLI in the future ( 2x 970's ) then I recommend a very good quality 850w Power supply (or higher) again rated at least bronze 80+ . My go to brand is usually Seasonic ( when on sale) or Corsair ( Hx or AXi series). DO NOT put a great system at risk with a garbage power supply !

Optical drives? I don't have one in my current Pc , just gets one that fits the slot/bay, reads and writes DVDs and is not known for being noisy.

Hope this helps.

No bother I have a day off today :) -
The case I run is the corsair AIR 540, and I can NOT recommend it enough! A monkey could build inside it, tonnes of room, tonnes of airflow and it looks sweet AND yes may fans can be kept at low RPM so my system is quieter!
Its is MASSIVE though! It is the single most neat and tidy build I have ever made - no cable mess and MORE air flow and lower temps!

Cool bro , your rig must be awesome from what you say , enjoy ! haha :) , meanwhile i was looking for monitors which have 120hz and above and the cheapest was 208+ ! its ~14237 INR , what i want to know is , are they worth it ? I mean it was a 24" monitor with no IPS and i was thinking any monitor in the range of 10 k INR ~146$ would do the job ...I use pcpartpicker.com to see stuff , and sadly the monitor i mentioned is not available on amazon.in .. its Acer GN246HL .

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/QNIX-QX2414-LED-144-FHD-24-1-5ms-1920x1080-24-inch-Full-HD-144Hz-Gaming-Monitor-/131499860430?hash=item1e9e00a1ce:g:OxMAAOSwqu9VQbbl

I would most definitely checkout the monitors this company sells on ebay. The one listed is 144Hz My friend Chris has a QNIX 1440P monitor (Samsung IPS Panel) which overclocks to 120 Hz and it is beautiful! The one I linked is 1080p not 1440p but you could obviously get 1440p as the GTX 970 will compliment it really well! Expect to pay some import tax though ! How much depends upon your country.
140.99 GBP = 13,800.31 INR

I would pay a little more for a "zero dead pixel" or "perfect pixel" guarantee!
You will not get a monitor with this specification elsewhere I suspect!

That monitor was cool ! but ebay will however add 3k INR for import duty which I think isn't a matter because it said "Free Shipping" to India ! :D . +1 for monitor.

Easy , just make sure its a z87 or z97 chipset which will leave you the option for overclocking!!

I always go with Asus but Gigabyte IMO make great boards for the money. Other features I look for is of course sata III support/ports, the speed of memory (RAM) supported , You will want a board that will easily support up to and OVER speeds of 1600Mhz . Most modern mobos will easily support 16 Gb - 32 Gb of Ram. I Find 8GB of fast ram running at 1600Mhz or above is a sweet spot and gets the job done for gaming ( and will easily met your requirements here) Other desirable features are of course SLI support with at least one PCI-e 3.0 Slot with x16 lanes, and another PCIe slot available for a second card. USB 3.0 onboard and support for front of case usb 3.0 slots. The form factor of the mobo must meet any restrictions your case may present in terms of size and space.

I wouldn't personally opt for a smaller case ( anything smaller than mid-tower) for a gaming PC build as it presents restrictions in terms of compatible hardware such as GPUs and CPU coolers and also it will mean less airflow inside the case so overall a hotter system. If you can go for a roomier case id suggest doing so.. I have the corsair air 540 (awesome case IMO) My pal chris has a NZXT phantom case which is large but so so quiet and looks very smart!

here is a few Mobos that I think good for the money with everything I think you would want

http://www.newegg.com/global/in/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813132512&nm_mc=AFC-C8Junction&cm_mmc=AFC-C8Junction-PCPartPicker,%20LLC-_-na-_-na-_-na&cm_sp=&AID=10446076&PID=3938566&SID=

I would take the Asus mobo over the gigabyte one , as the reviews for the latter are not all positive!
Hope this helps!

Thanks again , the gigabyte one I've seen it already and yeah i also didn't like it but i missed the asus one and now i see it's amazing for that price , I've always wanted the gigabyte z97x ud3h but sadly its not available in India and importing from newegg totals around 15 k INR ~219$ . Compared the z97 A and E and find the E better because of the price but it falls back in having no Display Port and Dvi ( not dvi-D )connectors, won't be a problem because it has hdmi . Need help in another thing that is about the case .. Corsair 200r is good ? The one's you mentioned look good but overall price would rise above 80k INR so I don't think i can get that .. and if you know a better case around the price range of 200r please tell me :) . Thanks again.

and , oh-oh , z97-e is not yet available in India ! and import from new egg gonna add 6000 and ebay doesn't ship z97-e to india :/ but voila z97-e is available in ebay.in and is priced at 16.6 k INR which costs more than importing it from newegg :D . While z97-k being available in india at a cheaper price , is it any better than the z97-e ? seems k is not better than e in terms of sli .

I would go with the Asus mobo in that case. The 200R looks a decent case. The only point being that the 212 EVO CPU cooler will be a tight squeeze to fit in there. I think we are talking less than 1cm between the top of the cooler and the side of your case my friend. But it seems to be well regarded and at the price it's seemingly a good option for you!

The 212 should fit according to both Coolermaster and corsairs specs but I have found that in the past that they don't always get it right. Once had a corsair air 240 case that I had trouble fitting a GPU into that according to manufacturers specs should have fitted! Ended up having to return the case :)

Hey I'm back and Oh i dont know where the price is going :( , even with the cheapest parts the price rises to 95k INR.

Specs ( for that 95k ) :
i5 4690k - 17890 INR ~ 261.512$
Gigabyte gtx 970 g1 gaming - 29975 INR ~ 438.167$ ( think i should go with the evga or windforce )
Dell S2240L 1080p ips monitor - 9600 INR ~140.249$ ( reviews were great , the monitor you said is 16k INR and i loved it but ... ;-; )
asus z97-e/3.1 usb mobo - 14149 INR ~206.822$(import from newegg, indian sites show 16k inr )
asus 24x drw drive - 1000 INR ~ 14.618$
Cooler Master hyper 212 evo - 3619 INR ~ 52.914$
Corsair 300r Case - 4900 INR ~ 71.627$ (for no reason 200r was priced more than the 300r lol)
Seasonic S12ii 620w psu - 6250 INR ~ 91.361$
Samsung 850 evo 120gb ssd - 4975 INR ~72.746$
Western Digital Blue Caviar 1 tb hdd - 3800 inr ~55.550$

Total - 96159 INR / 1406.057 , this is unbelievable and I must reduce it to 80 k , or I think i wont get a new pc ._.

A great first time build for gaming! And all parts that I would agree with. Well done. :)
I would add a better monitor into the mix at a later date though :). It's pricey but it's a little gaming beast and fully upgradable in the future. I hate to see expensive hardware hooked up to a piece of junk PSU, so definitely stick with the seasonic rather than spending half the amount on a 1500w unbranded piece of junk :). Good luck!

True. I can't get it any cheaper without affecting performance or compatibility (maybe) , thanks for helping me this long , can I add friends in tomshardware ? Lol I want to follow your solutions and posts :).
