First gaming build under 800

Sorry I know you guys answer these a lot, but I really want to make sure I maximize my system for somewhere around 800. Already have Operating System and DVD drive.

Do you intend to crossfire in the future? If yes, that mobo will bottleneck another 6850 coz it runs in 4x mode. Get this Asrock mobo instead:

Thanks, the last system I built was in 06, so I'm a little rusty :/ Could I maybe drop a better card and stay under 800?

Yes ofcourse you could get the 6870 or even a 6950 maybe with some savings on case. Question is do you really want to? What resolution do you intend to play on?

Why would it be dumb. LOL. Anyway, thats a good resolution. You might indeed make good use of a single 6950 or 2 6850s.I suggest, you get 2 6850s for that. I understand, it would go over 800$. But then thats upto you. I suggest you could go with one 6850 now and the get another one in 6 months. Mind you, at that resolution, you will need another 6850 in 6 months for sure if you want play everything at max settings. So, errm, dunno. Go with a single 6870. You can get away with a single one for a year maybe. So, there are your 2 choices:
single 6850 now but will need another in 6 months(est 175$ 6 months later)
single 6870 now but can get another card after a year(est 200$ 1 year later).

I would start with a single card, and expand later if you have to.
AFAIK, Hec is not known for quality PSUs. For a single card, 550W-600W will be enough. Antec, Seasonic, Corsair, XFX, and Enermax all have models in that range that have received excellent competent technical reviews.

What would you suggest as far as a brands of PSUs? I'd appreciate a few links but if not its cool.

I noticed you're planning on keeping your DVD drive. If you do decide to go with the AsRock Extreme3, make sure your drive has a SATA connection, because AFAIK the AsRock 870 Extreme3 doesn't have the old IDE/ATA port. Made that mistake myself and was forced to switch motherboards. I was still researching parts at the time, but I'm just glad I caught it early.

If your drive does have an IDE connection, you can buy a SATA DVD drive for <$20.

For PSUs, the usual recommendations around here are PSUs from Antec, Corsair, Seasonic, and perhaps Xigmatek. There may be some other companies I left out, though. I'm not too sure about HEC's PSUs.

The Antec Earthwatts 650W PSU seems like a nice one. I'm planning on using it in my build.
