as mentioned before this is my first build, so any advice/modifications are welcome.

What should i choose for PSU? I plan on possibly adding a second GTX 295 later.

once again any feedback is welcome.

Ok man, your build is a bit muddled but dont worry it will be beastly.

First, what is your budget?

1. If you're looking at that GPU and possibly Sli down the line, and want to future proof, get an x58 Mobo and a core i7 920. It works out about the same price and will perform better. Also the x58 Mobo is the only one that can reliably run Sli.

Are you from the U.S or U.k? this will affect the cost

Thanks for the quick reply!
im from the UK and im probably aiming for about <£1500

im kinda a nvidia freak so i thought i would get their top mobo :p will the x58 last as long? i may reuse mobo in my next build if this becomes outdated. (hopefully ages away)

also how does the i7 differ form the core 2 quad?

thanks again

Cool, I'm UK too, we pay a little more.....

Firstly, the i7 is the latest CPU and it's chipset x58 is also the latest. The x58 is the only board that reliably does sli but can also crossfire. Regarding speed, the i7 has similar clock speeds out of the box, but is more efficient and can be monstrously overclocked.

Wait a bit and ill give you a build

SWEET! thanks alot man!

couple of questins on the mods:

1. will the power supply be sufficient if i add a second 295 in sli?

2. is it better to get 1 hdd, or 2 smaller ones in raid0?

3.is it worth buying a bd drive that writes to cd and dvd, or should i take the drive you linked and then read-only bd drive?

on a seperate note, im thinking of adding liquid cooling in the future, not really for any practical use as i have no overclocking experience, but more for aesthetics.
how much would that cost?(basically is it too much to spend on appearance)

once again thanks for the build, my wallet it going to hate me :p

1. No you'd need a 1000W really, corsair are one of the best but their 1000w is about £180, you can get cheaper ones but you may sacrifice reliability.

2. raid0 gives you more speed but if things **** up in one of them, both are at risk of loosing data. The HDD I mentioned is pretty much the best storage HDD, you can add a smaller performance HDD like a 150gb velociraptor to use for loading Windows and games if it fits into your budget.

3. Bd drives that write to dvd are normally quite slow. The best would be to go with that DVD-RW and get a read-only LG BD for like £60

4. Well you should really be overclocking anyway, because that's what makes it worth spending this amount of cash on a pc; essentially you can go from 2.66ghz to 4 or 4.5ghz for free. If you think you will end up getting water cooling, either get a kit straight off or wait until you've already built the pc (using the stock intel cooler in the meantime)

@ the animal: Whatever man, what you're saying is only true of 1650x1050 and below

Basically, if you have a 22 inch at 16x10 you only need a gtx260

if you have a monitor at 1900x1200 then get the 285 or 295.

Also remember, if you're going to get a bigger monitor in the future, get the bigger card because if you buy a 2nd, you can only sli with the same type of card

thanks agin for all your help and it looks like in gonna have to learn about overclocking! cya!
