Additional Comments: I've heard aftermarket coolers prevent AMD cards from overheating and keep them quiet, but I'm still concerned about them heating up the room. Would a R9 290x owner care to share their experience? My second choice GPU would be a MSI gtx 970.

I'm also considering an adaptive sync display (main reason why I'm leaning toward an AMD gpu- freesync is cheaper), but I'm not sure if its worth the premium. The ASUS MG279Q has freesync, but is 250$ more than the QNIX 2710 in my build with similar specs. Any adaptive sync users want to enlighten me?

A graphics card heats up your room about as much as two average light bulbs . Stop worrying about that .

Your monitor doesnt seem to be available . No prices when i tried to check it

Using a large relatively slow SSD might be OK , but using an M.2 drive that slots in to your motherboard directly and then a larger mechanical drive for data storage will be much faster . Faster even that a gread SATA SSD .

The msi Mate mb is budget . VERY budget .
I replaced it with a gigabyte thats easily worth the extra $30 IMO
and went with the red theme of the RAM

But your case is blue so maybe you want a blue motherboard [ asrock make decent Z97 boards with blue heatsinks ] and blue RAM .

The ASUS strix GTX 970is very quiet .
