First PC build

Hi Guys

I really want to build a custom PC for gaming, streaming and everything that goes with it. I have some tech knowledge, but I'm no wizz. I think I found my components, but I really want your input if you have any.

I bought an elgato game capture when I thought my old HP could hack it, so I'm thinking of adding that to the new build as well. I think that I can re-use my old video card (the one listed below) - but that's about the only re-used component in the build. I don't know what kind of Power supply I have right now - so I don't know if I can re-use that. The one in the list is the one I would buy if i had to.

What do you think? Am I totally off?

It's a good build, but i don't know if the 5820k is very necessary unless you are going to render and edit. A 4790k/6700k would be a better choice to save some money/ get a better GPU, since the 770 is starting to fall behind on newer games. A 980/980ti would be better option if you can afford it.

Other than that, it's a great rig, and that PSU is perfect.

That CPU is a huge overkill for the GPU. If you focus on gaming, maybe you should save some money there, sell your old GPU and get something stronger. Don't know how CPU demanding streaming is though.
I don't know what your prices are, but if you were to build a rig like that where i live (Denmark) there are alternatives that would get you a way better fps/money ratio.

Edit: well Eliasand said what i wanted to say. Getting the processors (s)he suggested would also mean getting another motherboard, and both Z97s and Z170s are way cheaper than the X99s

I hear what you are saying, and decided to go with a new video card. I think I'll go with the GTX 980ti 'cause when I had to pay the big bucks I'd rather go all out than regret it later. And that means that I'll deffently get the EVGA 750W.

When I decided I was going to build my own PC the first thing I looked at was the CPU's and I fell in love with the 5820k - in terms of power vs. price. I looked at the 4790k as well, but decided to go up a notch. I know i need a lot of core power to run all the program and high-demanding games that streaming requires. I read about the i7 6Gen's - but haven't seen anybody recomend them? So I'd love to hear why you do?

Dont forget that I7 and i5 cores have QuickSync, which uses the CPU iGPU for encoding if you have a discreet one plugged in. This takes ALL load of thr CPU.

The Skylake i7's are currently a bit overpriced for their performance. A slightly overclocked 4790k will have the same performance, and might even be a notch faster.
The 6-Core 5820k is cool, but frankly, it's not worth the extra money for X99 mobos, DDR4 and the 2 extra cores for just gaming and streaming.

I made some calculations and if I change
i7 5820K, x99 deluxe and ddr4 (2x8 3200mhz)
to i7 4790, the Z170 and ddr3 (2x8 3200mhz)
I'll save approximately $243

Do you think that's a better option?

If you have the money to spend and want to invest, you can get the 6-Core. It is a bit more 'future proof' with DDR4 and such. If you want to save those 250 bucks, get the 4790k.
It is well powerful enough for gaming and streaming, and it overclocks like a beast with the right hardware.

Remember though, Z170 boards are 1151 sockets (skylake) only. Get a Z97 board for the 4790k.
