This is my first time building a PC, I am also going for a 144hz monitor. I don't think I would have any problems hitting 144fps with this build.

My main focus was future proofing, getting a solid build that can last a few years before it needs upgrades.

Any feedback would be great.

Solution
i assume you meant 1080p 144hz.

it should hit 144 hz on most esports titles,
your ram is a little slow, i would suggest to get at least 3000 MHz kit instead of the 2400 Mhz,
pc partpicker shows that
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/vgJkcf/patriot-memory-pv416g300c6k for 155 euro.

also asus prime is a budget z370 board and looks like a 4+3 vrm design, which is probably the weakest you can go.

asrock ex4 (5x2 phase with doubler), asus prime z370a (8 phases not sure about the doubling or not),msi krait gaming, (4x2 with doubling) are much better.

Solution
It is a decent build and would be considered a high end rig. The 8700k is a hot chip, and the H7 may not provide enough cooling for substantial overclocking. I would spend a little extra and get the Cryorig H5 as it will give you better cooling.

I agree with zyh1987, the Asus prime is a budget board and will limit your overclocking. I too like the AsRock Extreme4 motherboard as it is a very good midrange board.

In the end, if you are not going to overclock, then the Asus prime and the Cryorig H7 will both be perfectly fine for stock configuration.

Intel CPUs don't scale as well to high speed RAM compared to AMD, so high speed RAM is not a necessity. With that being said, I would still go for 2666mhz speed RAM at a minimum. But in the end, the difference in pricing between 2666 and 3200 is typically not much so it may be worth a few extra bucks to go for the higher speed RAM.

Hey thanks for the reply.

Would this be better?

VENGEANCE LPX 16GB (2X8GB) DDR4 PC4-24000C15 3000MHZ DUAL CHANNEL KIT

Z270M EXTREME4 INTEL Z270 (SOCKET 1151) DDR4 MICRO ATX MOTHERBOARD Or

PRIME Z370-A INTEL Z370 (SOCKET 1151) DDR4 ATX MOTHERBOARD

H5 UNIVERSAL SINGLE TOWER HEATSINK WITH 140MM FAN - WHITE FRAME

you can't use z270 boards to run intel 8000 series cpu, you need to have z370, also i try to stay away from micro-Atx board as they tend to cut down on lots of the power deliveries.
