First Post Ever !! Do I need to upgrade my system to play Total War: Warhammer

Hello guys,

This is my first post here, I don't know much about PC's and I want to give my husband a Bday present of buying him a PC game, but I really don't know if his system (built 3 years ago) will manage to run it with high enough graphics.

I don't want a salesman take advantage of my ignorance and sell me something I don't really need and I also want to surprise my husband. So you are my only guidance, I tried to research a bit on my own and I ended up more confused. Could you please tell me what I should upgrade in my system if it needs upgrade at all ?

Seems that I could wait a bit to upgrade, maybe a year ? what would you guys suggest ?

The only thing worth upgrading is the GPU, which isn't bad per-se, just not top-tier anymore. It should run the game fine, though Total War games do tend to stress the system a ton at max settings.
