first RAM slot not detecting memory!

Today i got my new build(my friend did it for me, he has built many pc before)
Intel i3 4130
Gigabyte h81M-S1
RAM: MERCURY 1×4GB DDR3 1333
Win-7,64 bit
So problem is that when i put memory in first slot (named DDR3_1) pc dont boot up, it gives some rapid continuous beep and restarts, again same beeps, agsin restart.........!
But in second slot(ddr3_2), it works perfectly.
So where is the problem, is my mobo faulty or it is any technical error?
Although i am happy with 4gb in second slot but it may be problematic if upgrades in future...

You are good.
When you populate ram, the motherboard will dictate where the first sticks should be installed if you are not filling all the slots.
Read your motherboard manual. The proper slot is often not the first slot closest to the cpu.

Ya closest slot to cpu is DDR3_1 and it do not detect to ram but further slot do...
So all you saying is i am ok... There is not any faulty part or cpu pin band problem during installation????

Same thing happening to me, older asus board though and it used to work, not it doesn't. A1 is dead. B1 is unstable. A2 is stable B2 is in testing right now. All test have been done with one stick of 4GB.

My suggestion is to RMA the board. There's no rule where the RAM should be placed, unless you want multi-channel. On a fully functional board, you can place the RAM in any DIMM slot.

Does the stick work in slot 3 or 4, if it works in 4 but not 3 then you probably have a bad channel or MC (memory controller)

Ok, i managed to get one almost same RAM stick from my friend, all both sticks are working perfectly, total ram was 8(4+4).
