im looking at this build for my new desktop. ive looked into ecc memory and it was hard for me to find a cheap motherboard that supported it, so im thinking of going without. Im not planning on overclocking which is why xeon is an option.
also, i need help with a power supply, some recomendation would be nice. i dont need an os or monitor.

if you say you wont be overclocking then i suggest combo of a i5-3470 and H77 chipset mobo - gonna be a lot cheper to you

for psu - antec/xfx/seasonic/corsair ~550w at least 80+ bronze

Some changes that i made, if you're not overclocking, and you cannot with the xeon, get the h77 pro 4, also this allows for a 7970 which is better than a 7950, a quality 550w psu will do, like the xfx, in my opinion the samsung 830 ssd is better, and the nzxt case is better, my suggestion :

The pro 4 mvp is a standard atx motherboard, i just put a full tower case, because he had one, but he can cut the cost of the case for a mid tower one, like the corsair 200R.

while the samsung 830 ssd has twice the iops speeds, im wondering if thasts important as ill only be putting programs and the os on it? i figured thats not nessisatry cus my music and videos are on an external i have. i was shooting more towards the reliability and durability of intel ssds. what do you think?

also i know like nothing about the psu so thanks for the pointers.

the graphics card was a toss up between the 7950 3gb and the 7970 3gb based on the deals i could find in the next week or so.

also the hdd is just a consept placer as idk what my final hdd will be and Im pritty in love with my case.

but as for the motherboard, whats the diffrence between the h77 and the z77? and my only concern with that mobo is that there is only one pcie 16 so i cant crossfire, i wanted that possiblity left open >.> whats the reasoning for loosing that?

I really dont want to upgrade this for 4 years, thats why i want the 16gb ram.

The samsung is as reliable as the intel, the two more reliable ssds, are those two brands, the samsung delivers better performance.
If you want to crossfire two 7950/7970, you need a better psu also, either stay with one with the h77 and a 550w psu or get the extreme 4 + ~750w psu :

ok, so i admit, looking into it, i broke down and bought the samsung 840 pro 256 gb. not only cus the double iops but because its so power efficient at

love it.

anyways with that power supply, i was wondering if i would have effcency problems with under pulling it? that is would i do better to buy the 550W untill i crossfire, then upgrade my PSU or just buy the bigger one now and use it at lower watts?

You can buy now the 650w, the efficiency is the same as the 550w, no point in getting two psu if you want to crossfire the 7950.

Do not purchase an XCLIO case. They are among the worst cases you could buy. Get a Corsair 500R instead in that price range, or the NZXT Phantom. If you're gaming don't purchase a Xeon - you won't benefit from it. Stick with the i5 or i7 instead.

im thinking modular is better as my case is open view.

add 70$ for g skill 16gb ddr3 1866 from new egg, and take off 65$ for inaccuracies of pcpartpicker/ recycled laptop hdd and its a solid 1200$ for me ^^
could get about 70$ less for different case and non-modular psu, but i like the setup

Rosewill PSU are relatively, at least, garbage, there's no point getting a rosewill when there's much better brands like Corsair, Seasonic, or PC&P

I'd reccomend the corsair over anything else at that price range, the HX750/850 have one of the highest consistent power output at that price range and have Corsairs Great customer service.

Don't buy a Xeon if you're not running a server or heavy workstation applications. Get an i5 or i7 instead. The people who are recommending Xeons are wrong wrong wrong.

There's nothing wrong with going with a xeon, it performance is as a good as a i7-3770, he doesn't want to oc, a xeon is a good option for editing, the h77 motherboard fully supports the cpu in question.
The i5-3470 is cheaper though.

There's nothing wrong with integrated graphics - if something goes wrong with your GPU it's good to have it as a diagnostic tool. You can disable it very easily in the BIOS.
