Hi There, First time build for myself and have been checking out components for a couple weeks now. Budget is flexible but i don't need overkill, though I wish this system to go 4-5 years?? Use is mainly as a gaming / photoshop rig

Here's what I need yet and what im looking at-

mobo-
ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+

CPU -
AMD Fx-8350
(yes I know I5 3570k....)

GPU-
MSI Gaming N770 TF 2GD5/OC GeForce GTX 770 2GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 SLI

RAM - Undecided??

If you have any suggestions , comments ect i would love to hear them and get feedback! Thanks guys

Just as fast as a 770, but better overclocking, more memory, better compute, free games, and its cheaper.

Looks like a overall good rig, you should easily be able to play the top games in full resolution and a smooth 50+ FPS. What is your PSU?

I don't know what RAM you would specifically want but I assume that you will want to have at least 8GB, when I play games such as Borderlands 2 with other programs like Skype and Fraps open at the same time I still have around 5GB physical memory available. In my personal opinion 16GB or 32GB is overkill for what you plan to use your PC for.

I lucked out and got a 750w Antec PSU w/ my case. 8GB would be plenty for me as well, the only program I ever run constantly is skype

Yep your fine, remember when you idle your wattage from you PSU is rather low (it will probably be around 250 300) so you will have no problems.

:)

Thanks for the link, Looks good to me, I was concerned about the memory on the 770. I'm only buying 1 as of now but wanted the option of running 2 in the future

Any other ideas in bang-for-buck options? I'm also looking at going water cooled for this rig so could use some suggestions there. My case is a raidmax smilodon mid tower, not the best case out there but I picked up that case w/ an included 750w antec psu, Hp Blu Ray drive, and a 2 TB Hdd all new for a mere $75

Thanks for the link, was there any pros/cons going with the ripjaw series? There priced basically the same.

I have the Corsair H60 2013 edition water cooler which is fantastic. People may disagree with me but water cooling is superior to air cooling. I have easily overclocked my CPU from 3.5 o 4.5 and this water cooler keep my CPU cool all the time. at idle my temps are around 14 degrees. When playing games such as Civ V (which uses a lot of CPU power) I have hardly ever hit 30 degrees.

Yes I may potentially OC in the future depending on my needs, either way the cooling on my model case seems hit or miss depending on the aftermarket fans or the non-existent cable management. I figure I will be one step ahead jumping straight to the water cooled system

You sure will, plus they look really nice in a system.

This was my first rig, still got the case and water cooler. :D

Nice to know, I was looking at the H80i model earlier, I know these fx8350's run hot .

Yes, the only problem with the H80i is that it is very wide and you need a case that will be able to accommodate it.
Also you need to make sure that it wont be resting on a capacitors or heat sinks etc.

I would definitely say that the H60 is fine if you are going to mildly overclock.

Heyo!

I think u don't need that sabertooth, if u wont go CF u can buy a cheaper mobo with 970chipset(cards with higher chipset only better for CF/SLI).
For CPU an FX-8320 is cheaper and well oveclockable. (There is no big difference in performance between 8350 & 8320)
Both GPU nice. For RAM if I were u I go for a 8GB G.Skill or Corsair.
For PSU I would get a unit from the top 3 tiers in this link:

http://www.eggxpert.com/forums/thread/323050.aspx (mine is from tier3, but I don't have more bucks for a PSU)
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here is my build for gaming/oc

Mobo: ASUS M5A97 EVO R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8320 3.50GHz AM3+ BOX
RAM: CORSAIR 8GB Vengeance Low Profile DDR3 1600MHz CL9 KIT (CML8GX3M2A1600C9)
VGA: SAPPHIRE 11196-09-40G HD7950 3GBGDDR5 VAPOR-X OC PCIE
HDD: WD 1TB Caviar Blue 7200rpm 64MB SATA3 (WD10EZEX)
Opt.: ASUS DRW-24B5ST Black
Case: Zalman Z11 plus
PSU: CORSAIR CX Series Modular CX600M
Cooler: CORSAIR Hydro Series H100i

It costs about 1135$.

Hey , thanks for the post. I though about different mobo's but I like the future option of going CF/SLI. The way im looking at it is after a year or two I can pick up another gpu on the cheap, OC and extend the life of this setup? I also looked at the fx-8320 and realize I'd probably end up with the same cpu but would like the insurance of a maxed out OC down the road. Any thoughts? Thanks again everyone for the great info!

Also im not going closed loop WC, decided on a Noctua NH-D14
Undecided on RAM, These G.skill look good w/ OC but....???
Planned Parts:
Raidman Smilodon Case, Antec 750w Modular PSU, Hp Blu-Ray ( Got this all new for $75 local)

mobo-
ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 AM3+

CPU -
AMD Fx-8350
(yes I know I5 3570k....)(Lots of BF3 and Photoshop)

GPU- SAPPHIRE Vapor-X 100351VXSR Radeon HD 7970 GHz Edition 3GB 384-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

RAM - G.SKILL Ares Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 2133 (PC3 17000)

Cooler-Noctua NH-D14

Nice but imo 1600/1866Mhz is enough.
