First Time Boot

I have built a computer for a friend of mine and upon completion I realized that there is no onboard graphics. I then plugged an hdmi cord into the gpu to display the bios on my monitor but I'm not getting any signal to the monitor. The gpu is running, confirmed by the fan running, and everything else seems to be fine. Is there something I'm missing here that is hindering me from booting from the gpu? Anything I need to do? Thank you to anyone that takes the time to assist.

Only one space on the motherboard can fit the GPU. I was asking a couple people that I know work on computers here at work after I had posted this and they said that possibly the drivers for the HDMI port are not installed/updated so transferring data to the TV may not happen. The graphics card does have VGA and DVI ports, though. They said I possibly need to use one of these first. Could this be the source of the issue? Anyone else with any other input? Thank you for your response and any other future responses. :)

Last night I tried a VGA cable from the card to my monitor and no signal was transferred then either. I may just RMA the motherboard and get one with onboard graphics to avoid the fuss. Thank you again for all of your help.

This is the graphics card I am using for this build and I found it odd that the VGA port is yellow other than the normal blue. Also, it says CRT on the graphics card and upon doing some research, this is in reference to the old tube TV's from my understanding. Any insight on this? Anything that can help with this, otherwise? Would rather not wait on getting this computer finished for my buddy.

I had a similar problem. The motherboard lit up and all fans turned on but no signal to the monitor. I went through all the steps on Tom's sticky for when there is no signal to the monitor and nothing worked.
Eventually I tried replacing the RAM and everything worked fine. If you have spare parts lying around you can try swapping individual things out to see if they're the problem. It also could help a lot to get an internal speaker (beeper). It will beep error codes and may help you solve the problem.
