Hi everybody.
I'm wanting to finally jump headlong into the PC gaming community and am wanting to build it myself. I have drawn up a lot of different lists of components of what I think will work for me. I would like a PC that could happily play games that are being released now, probably not good enough to run Battlefield 3 at ultra but as an example a set up which you guys think would be able to run Skyrim without any hiccups.
I know there are a lot of guides that you can point me too to help me but I would just like your opinion on whether you think this would be a PC that will last for at least a few months before an upgrade.
The components are:

AMD Phenom II X6
Asus M4A87TD EVO Motherboard
G. Skill Ripjaws 8Gb DDR3 RAM
Sapphire Radeon HD 5850 Graphics card
Corsair F120 120Gb SSD
Seagate Barracuda Green 2TB Hard Drive
OCZ 600W ModXStream PSU
Sony AD-526OS Internal DVD-RW

I am hoping for a fairly cheap build these components I chose without a case would be about £500.00 which would be a very good price for me but I don't mind if any suggestions are a few hundred more. Also if anyone could point me in the direction of a suitable PC case I would be another great help.

Thank you very much for any help. Do your worse to this build and help me make it a bit better, thanks.

first of all I think you migth want to get yourself ad additional cooler for the cpu. the stock coolers from AMD are very noisy. i boght an AMD 965 BE and the stock cooler mede me crazy. betveen 30-60 dbs

and if you are going to play BF3 at ultra you better tink of crossfire. og consider an powerful AMD 6950/6990.

If you are going to use Air cooling you must have an fulltower og ATX cabin. if fulltower i recommend you to buy more fans. if you are going for an ATX cabin you must remember Powerful Cards Need BIG space.

I got an Cooler mater 310 elite. amd i am not happy with the air flow in the case. (but then i upgraded to LCS) but even then it were no place at all. i enden putting my radiator in the front there 3 of the 5,25 inch cd rom bays were supposed to be.

I recomend and you an modular PSU(it's so nice and sleve to use) and 600W is an good choice for an middle range gaming rig.

why not have a muck around with the pc configurator here--give you an idea of what you can get for your budget

and if you go for a 5850 i would get the one from asus--its a fantastic overclocker--i had it before upgrading to a gtx570 and could get it to 1ghz from the stock speed of 765mhz--that was the original design not the direct cu version

heres one here
