First time builder. Pc not posting

Hi, I recently bought all my parts for my pc.

FX 8320
gigabyte ga 970a ds3p
4gb vengance 1600hz
EVGA 500w
500gb hdd Western digital
power cooler r9 280x
cit dominator case
The thing is when I turn on the pc the fans spin for half a second then shut off.

Please help!!!!!!!!!

Well if you have another compatible motherboard you could try to test all the components in that system, if not I don't know any other way to find out. Maybe you have a computer shop in your area, they might be able to help you out.

Anyways if you buy a new motherboard and your components don't work your can still RMA it.
There is a chance that one of your components is dead.
-check your ram is plugged in right (can be a reason for a system not posting)
-check if you have plugged in all the cables from you power supply
Also if a little speaker came with your motherboard plug that in and it is probably going to spit out an error code, you can then look in your motherboard manual what that code means.
If nothing works RMA your motherboard.
 


 
The thing's is the little speaker doesn't make any beeps. that's what confuses me. Could that mean my Motherboard may be broken? . Also does it matter what orientation the PSU is? . I have it with the fan upside down..
 
If it doesn't make any sounds, then your motherboard is probably broken. And for the psu, it only matters if you don't have a cutout on the bottom or top of the case.
