So recently i built a new computer. When i first tested it it ran fine. I was able to get windows up and running as well. But several days later, i started getting frequent RAM related blue screens right and left. So i RMA'd the ram and got new ones. But now my computer won't even turn on anymore. I've checked all the connections, and they all seem good. The GPU is properly seated. Like i said, it has worked before. The only changers i have made are switching out defective ram for hopefully good ram as well as i added an LED strip to my board. The board is getting power as the LED's light up. The GPU has power indicated by the two LED's on it as well. The only weird thing is inside the case, the internal power button has a red LED above it instead of green.

Specs:
Intel 6850k
Asus Strix 1080
Asus X99 Strix gaming
16gb (8x2) DDR4 3200mhz corsair dominator platinum
Corsair AX860 power supply

Thanks!

Well hello, The speed your RAM opperates is 3200Mhz ypur CPU's supported is 2400Mhz but I don't think that is the problem cause The RAM will downclock to match the FSB/Memory controller speeds. You might have damaged the RAM slot's.Did you force the RAM sticks on to the slots opposite?Try and take out 1 stick and then the other, try adding the 1st stick to the second slot and the second stick to the 1st slot.Take out both memories and power it on do you hear any beaps?

Does the system turn off when it fails to POST or just not turn on at all? It could be a RAM related issue as Menelaos1996 said, but the Red indicator doesn't really seem to fit that.

have you tried resetting CMOS?I had a problem with my pc where it would boot, then i would just get a lot of RAM related BSOD. when i ran memtest i was getting like 1 error every second. Try to reset cmos, if it boots, update your BIOS!

The ram slots are okay. I did get them in the correct way. I tried booting with one single ram module in the slots and no luck. And when i took out all the ram there was not beep.

Doesn't turn on at all.

I did reset the cmos by shorting out the two pins. I took out the backup battery and tried that as well with no luck. And as of the crash i was in the most current version of the bios which is 601.

So it ended up being a bad motherboard. I first tried all the suggested answers, thanks by the way, without any luck. I talked to a friend and he said it was probably a fried mobo. BTW i use those ant static bands and all the power cords were plugged in correctly (checked three times in the manual). I called Asus tech support and after i said what i had tried they pretty much said it had to be the motherboard. For some reason i checked Newegg's reviews for anything before calling Asus and three people had the same issue as i did. Worked for 5-7 days and it just died. The led's would turn on but the comp wouldn't post. Thanks for the help! Just seems to be bad quality control on Asus's end which sucks because I've always had great luck with their products.
