Ok, it's time to upgrade my 5 year old rig, and I've decided to take the plunge and do it myself. I've done the research, and come up with the following build:

Case: XION Onyx XON-33

Mobo: Asus p5n32-e sli lga 755 (680i)

PSU: Thermaltake Toughpower 750w (for second card later)

CPU: Core 2 Duo E6600

RAM: Patriot eXtreme Performance 2x1gb PC2 6400

Graphics Card: Geforce 8800 GTX

Sound: Creative X-fi xtremegamer Fatal1ty Pro series

HDD: 2x Seagate Barracuda 7200 RPM 320gb (oem, this kina scares me since I don't know settings already, but I figure I can find them on the internet)

DVD: Lite-on 20x DVD +/-R with Litescribe

Keyboard: Saitek Eclipse PZ30AU

Mouse: Logitech G5

Monitor: Samsung 204BW 20in Widescreen LCD

OS: XP stripped from old system

Total price after rebates and sales, after shipping: $2405

(all parts from newegg. Looked at other sites, but price savings didn't beat sales and shipping savings)

Is this a) going to be possible for me to put together on my own,
and b) a good build for a decent price?

Any advice or tips you could provide me would be welcome as well. Thanks in advance for everything!

Look like great build, always up to you on the budget and depending on uses, you can cut corners without losing a step of preformance.
Building a PC is not very hard, take your time, ask a lot of questions and read the manual before during and after you put every part in place.

Sorry, forgot to mention the use!

I plan on using it for gaming, and would like to be able to run the new DX10 games so pretty that I can't tear my eyes away.

Finally, I'd like to put Vista on it when the kinks get worked out. Hopefully I haven't left anything out this time. Thanks!
